Annette Grodecki Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 4, 2024.
Annette "Nettie" Marcia Greene Grodecki, 78, of Madison, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 31, 2024. Born in Akron, Ohio, on January 3, 1946, she spent her early years in Cuyahoga Falls. After graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1964, she pursued higher education, earning a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in education from Cleveland State University.

For three decades, she dedicated herself to education as an English teacher and reading specialist at East Technical High School in Cleveland. Known as "Ms. Tierce," she inspired and guided countless students, leaving an enduring mark on their lives. Her nurturing demeanor and unwavering commitment to teaching transcended the confines of the classroom.

Through reading books, doing crossword puzzles, playing card and board games, Nettie found joy in many activities. She appreciated cinema and theater, plays at Rabbit Run Theatre, and avidly followed sports, cheering on the Cavs and Browns. The soulful melodies of blues music held a special place in her heart. Her adventurous spirit led to memorable journeys with her girlfriends from Colorado to Mexico and Hawaii. Alongside her BFF, she enjoyed spectating horse races, many shared birthday celebrations, and fireside chats at Geneva on the Lake. She cherished precious moments with her granddaughter during Nana Camp and shared delightful shopping excursions. Above all, Nettie treasured the bonds of family, neighbors, and friends, prioritizing the warmth and companionship they brought into her life.

Nettie's many artistic skills and passions were evident in her home decorating, beautiful art journals, and participation in stamp classes, referred to as "Stamp Padders," with friends. She crafted lovely handmade cards to commemorate holidays and special occasions and carefully curated scrapbooks to capture cherished memories. She gifted others with her beautiful jewelry, sharing the joy it brought her.

Nettie volunteered at the Madison Senior Center, where she devotedly participated in Meals on Wheels, enriching the lives of seniors. She contributed to various admirable causes, including the Madison Senior Center, Madison Food Center, Rabbit Run Theatre, Sub Zero Mission, and Bella Muntean-Angel Heart of HOPE Ministry.

Her smile and laugh would light up a room; her warm heart would make everyone feel welcome. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving Nettie is her husband, Adalbert; son, Michael Tierce; daughter-in-law, Julie Criscione; beloved granddaughter, Khaela; niece, Sarah Greene, along with several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jeffrey Greene.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Madison Senior Center, 2938 Hubbard Road, Madison, OH 44057.

A ceremony to celebrate Nettie's life will be at Joey's Italian Grille, 2731 Hubbard Rd., Madison, OH, on Friday, 5/17, from 11:00 - 2:00. We thank Hospice of the Western Reserve and Lake Erie Cremation for their care.

We were welcomed by Annette after her husband Del "discovered" me as a new 2nd cousin. It was a wonderful family reunion several years ago, and we appreciated Annette's warm hospitality and thoughtfulness. Our sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Del and the family.

Annette was one of the kindest humans. One special moment I remember was the sleepover at the end of our senior year at her home. My condolences to the family and to all who loved her.

We loved Aunt Nettie and will deeply miss her. Her smile and laughter were contagious! Her bright spirit lit up a room and made everyone feel loved. She was a very special person and a blessing to everyone who knew her. We will always cherish the wonderful summers and holiday time spent with her and the family. She made the most thoughtful beautiful cards which we treasure and she loved her family deeply. She told me recently that if she saw Bella before me, she would give her the biggest hug from me:) Bella probably greeted her with a American Girl doll and a "Celebration" tea party waiting for her:) It is just a brief period of time until we are with our loved ones. Life is so fragile. Tell your friends and family you love them. Spend time with them. Be giving, forgiving and share love every day. Aunt Nettie will remain in our hearts, always be loved and never forgotten. We love you Aunt Nettie! Love never dies....Brenda, Dorin, Iulia and "Angel" Bella Muntean and Jesse

I met Annette in grade school at Grant. She was always kind to everyone and she had a beautiful smile. We have reconnected in the last 10 years and I am so happy we did. We were able to have some shared lunches and it was wonderful catching up on life. I will miss her. My condolences to her husband and her family. She was a beautiful person.

My condolences to Annette's family and friends. She was a good soul. I met her in 6th grade at Grant School and admired her all through high school. She was a popular girl in school. Rest in peace.

We have been friends since first grade and I have such great memories of Annette all through HS. In the last 10 years we were able to reconnect, in person, several times. I enjoyed seeing her artistic skills which she often shared. I loved hearing of her teaching days - her ability to be tough but with a big heart of compassion. She will be missed but I look forward to seeing her again in our eternal home. With deepest sympathy to her loved ones.
