Anselm (Andy) Dyess Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2023.
Mr. Anselm Lewis Dyess (Andy), son of Robert Dyess and Imogene Barrett, was born on June 7, 1962, in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He attended public schools of Neshoba County and graduated in 1980. He then attended Mississippi State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.

With 34+ years of service, Mr. Dyess served as Colonel in the United States Air National Guard as a Bioenvironmental Engineer and a medic in the Army National Guard. He was a dedicated career public servant who retired from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality as an Environmental Engineer. Mr. Dyess had an engineering mind with deep appreciation for the arts. His legacy was to strive to understand more, think critically about the world around us, and to love each other through shared experiences. He was well known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and pleasant personality. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, sports, reading, listening to music, and staying up way too late. He had a great sense of humor and a listening ear. Mr. Dyess was a man of few words but was quick to say "I Love You" to those he was closest with.

Mr. Dyess is survived by his four children: Brian (Alex) Dyess of Tuscaloosa, AL; Mark (Caroline) Dyess of Madison, MS; Corey Dyess of Nashville, TN; Jenna Dyess of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by: two grandchildren, Evie Jane and Peyton; his sister, Brenda Beale; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Dyess was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Imogene, and his brothers, Robert and Tommy.

A celebration of life will be held on May 10, 2023, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at The Plant Venue, 133 Commerce Park Drive Suite 01, Jackson, MS 39213. Casual attire. Due to Mr. Dyess's donation wishes, a graveside ceremony will be held with immediate family at a later date.
