Anthony Pettinato Obituary
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Giacomo and Angelina Rei Pettinato, he was an electrical engineer for IBM before retirement and was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Tony was all about family and friends. He was especially proud to be a grandfather and great-grandfather. He demonstrated his love every day. Ever the supportive presence, he was viewed by all as a role model, using his many gifts to inspire those around him. Tony was a strong kind man. His storytelling was world-renowned. He summarized life lessons in simple expressions; he could carry on a conversation with anyone; and, he was always available to lend a helping hand. He loved dancing the twist. His legacy will live on in all of us. He was loved more than words can express.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Brown and husband, Thomas, Binghamton, N.Y.; a son, Gerard Pettinato and wife, Angela, Endicott; five grandchildren, Luke Brown (Carrie Farrar); Nathan Brown (Patricia Vill); Gina Hooker and husband, Sean; Annette Micholychak and husband, Cory; Vincenzo Pettinato (Melissa Riccio); five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Dante, Lillian, Adrianna and Marco; a brother, Jack Pettinato, Carbondale; a sister, Marie Greto, Carbondale; a sister-in-law, Ann Marie Pettinato, Crystal Lake; several nieces and nephews.
Anthony was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony J. Pettinato; a brother, Dr. Salvatore Pettinato; and sister, Angela Mancuso; brothers-in-law, Frank Mancuso and Anthony Greto; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Pettinato.
The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2 Hospital St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m.
