I first met Tony when I was a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon. Several years later he hired me back as a faculty member to co-teach a new first-year lab course. He was a wonderful friend and mentor and always supportive. The success I have had as an advisor and teacher is built on the foundation Tony provided. I am forever grateful.

Tony and I often "shared" the ride between Scott Township and the CMU campus. After retiring, He never failed to stop by for a brief visit to my office when in Pittsburgh. My friendship with Tony is one of my fondest memories of my career at Carnegie Mellon.

I worked for Tony from 1953-1955 on the API Project. It was more like working with him instead of for him. Sincere condolences on his passing.
