Arthur Dias Obituary
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Julio F. Dias and Sarah Elizabeth (Beanland) Dias, he was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and a life long resident of Dartmouth.
Mr. Dias worked as the Town of Dartmouth Harbormaster for 31 years, retiring in December of 2002. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of the former Morse Fishing Club in New Bedford. A communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth, he enjoyed fishing and boating.
Survivors include one daughter, Jodi A. Saikali of So. Dartmouth; a son, Philip J. Dias and his wife, Sandi of No. Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Saikali) Melo and her husband, Steven, Christopher J. Saikali, Matthew A. Dias and Logan T. Reber. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert W. Dias.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 10 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Mary's Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM. Burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
