Arthur Skinner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 30 to Mar. 31, 2021.
Arthur "Bud" Burgess Skinner, Jr.

San Francisco Artist Crosses the Divide, 78 of San Francisco, bravely passed away March 21, 2021 with his surviving sister by his side. He wished to be remembered as the fastest bicyclist in Marin in 1970 racing to Muir Beach, through Mill Valley, and back to the bait shop in Sausalito; he could reach Tam High from 19th Avenue in 45 minutes. Shortly after, he survived stage 4 Hodgkin's Disease, though left with the consequences of the cure.
Bud was a busy industrious boy in Marin. Always fearless at 15 traveled down the spine of California to the San Fernando Valley in a borrowed car during a summer dishwasher stint at Tahoe Taverns, hopping freight trains the summer of high school graduation landing a job in Manhattan's Garment District, twice traveling to Honduras and Guatemala in search of opals during his early 20s, a professional artist in the Upper Grant Avenue 1960s scene, designing bars in the City and peninsula often times salvaging discarded virgin redwood south of Market. Bud slowed down later as an avid dancer with many of the West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop clubs , making occasional forays in the sport memorabilia trade. Much later Bud enjoyed telling his mother he found the perfect job in taking care of her; she lived to 98.
Member of the Mill Valley Historical Society. Bud leaves family and friends of the 12 step communities who had enhanced his spirituality. His last wishes were for those to forgive him his trespasses as he has forgiven those who trespassed against him.

I wanted to add one more thing to the family. I remember him often...during all these decades. We were only friends but he made an impression on me. He was very different..so peaceful. I was 21 when I met him in school and we hung out once in a while during non school hours. I remember he had a sweet heart he loved very much and he would tell me he would get jealous very easily with her. I recently have been thinking of him a lot past few weeks which is why I googled him today and saw this very very sad news. I believe after all these decades he came to say goodbye which explains why I have continuously been having all these strong memories of him past weeks. I have prayed for him and for all his loved ones. Re reading his obituary I believe he was fighting a difficult health battle once more. May he rest in peace. He was a kind, gentle and special friend. I will never forget him.

To Arthur's family. I met Arthur in 1975. We were both taking a Spanish class at John Adam's school. We stayed in touch 4 few years only. I met his mom once. .at their home. Many years ago after about 10 to 15 yrs of no contact I called his phone number and spoke 2 his mom.. She told me he was doing very well. I never 4got him 2 this day. I'm so sorry for your loss. I pray his cancer had not returned . I wish he wud of stayed in contact. God comfort all of you. I will pray for Arthur and for all of you.
