Arthur Francis "Pat" Sutherland, Sr.

Gautier, Mississippi - Arthur Francis "Pat" Sutherland, Sr., age 78, of Gautier, MS passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in his sleep at his home.
Mr. Sutherland was born March 17, 1943 at Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Sutherland graduated from Belle Chasse High School in Belle Chasse, LA in 1960. He then attended college at Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA and graduated in 1964, where he was in the ROTC and marched with the Black Knights. He was then commissioned as an officer into the United States Army, serving three years, two of which were in Germany. After serving in the Army, he became a substitute teacher before beginning his engineering career at Avondale Shipyard. After almost two years, he then moved to Pascagoula, MS where he worked for Ingalls Shipbuilding until his retirement in 2008. He loved playing the piano and adored his family.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Bebe Ann Cuevas Sutherland; his parents, Stanley Louis Sutherland, Sr. and Frances Mae Tullier Sutherland; his brother, Stanley Louis Sutherland, Jr.; and his sister, Thais Sutherland Favrot.
Mr. Sutherland is survived by his children, Paige Ann Sutherland, Arthur "Artie" Francis Sutherland, Jr. and Patrick "Scottie" Scott (Kayla) Sutherland; his grandchildren, Michael Anthony Jamison, Jr., Amber Rachelle Jamison, Savannah Jane Sutherland, Jenna Kathryn Sutherland and Spencer Scott Sutherland; his sister, Suzanne Sutherland Ochello; his brother, Edwin Peter Sutherland; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at House of the Jackson Pearl, 624 Jackson Ave., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
