El Paso - Arturo "PoPo" Varela Jr., 78, a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Born May 18, 1942 to Arturo and Amaila Varela.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arturo Varela and Amalia Lopez, and his loving wife Blanca Talavera Varela.

Arturo is survived by his sons; David, Stephen, Gilbert, Victor and his grandchildren; Alex, Nineveh, Tesla, Talia, Rayan, Thomas, Max, Cole, Cooper and Sophie, daughter-in-laws; Cory, Tiffany Rae, Kathleen, and Carmen.

Arturo served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, after serving his country he worked at Union Pacific as a machinist where he retired. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved spending time with his family always looking for a good place to eat delicious food. Arturo will be miss by all who knew him but especially his loving family. As we always said to popo, there's no good bye's, just see you later pops. We love you.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM with a rosary reciting at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn; 8817 Dyer St. El Paso TX 79904. Due to Covid-19 Interment will be private at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.






Arturo ""PoPo"" Varela Jr., de 78 años, residente vitalicio de El Paso, Texas, falleció el martes 27 de octubre del 2020. Nació el 18 de mayo de 1942, hijo de Arturo y Amaila Varela. Le precedieron en muerte sus padres Arturo Varela y Amalia López, y su amada esposa Blanca Talavera Varela. A Arturo le sobreviven sus hijos; David, Stephen, Gilbert, Victor y sus nietos: Alex, Nineveh, Tesla, Talia, Rayan, Thomas, Max, Cole, Cooper y Sophie, y sus nueras: Cory, Tiffany Rae, Kathleen y Carmen. Arturo sirvió en el ejército de Estados Unidos durante la guerra de Vietnam. Después de servir a su país trabajó en Union Pacific como maquinista donde se retiró. Era un ávido fanático de los Yankees de Nueva York y le encantaba pasar tiempo con su familia siempre buscando un buen lugar para comer comida deliciosa. Arturo será echado de menos por todos los que lo conocieron, pero especialmente por su amada familia. Como siempre le dijimos a popo, no hay adiós, solo nos vemos más tarde. Te amamos. El velorio se llevará a cabo el martes 3 de noviembre del 2020 de 5:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. con el rezo del rosario a las 7:00 p.m. en Funeraria del Ángel Restlawn, en el 8817 Dyer St. Debido al Covid-19, el sepelio será privado en el cementerio nacional de Fort Bliss.
