VICKSBURG, Miss. - Azizie T. Jabour died Friday, April 8, 2011, in Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 93.
Born in Longview, Texas, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Maggie Mack Thomas and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1941. She and her late husband, Mike Jabour, owned and operated The Hub Clothing Store in downtown Vicksburg for a number of years. Active in many cultural and civic endeavors, Mrs. Jabour was a longtime member of the Salvation Army Board of Directors, and a member of the order of the Eastern Star in Longview, Texas. She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, the Ladies of St. George, and was one of the founders of the annual Lebanese Dinner.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Mayfield (Jerry Mayfield) of Vicksburg and Michele Farr (Dr. John Farr) of Cornwall-On-Hudson, New York; daughter-in-law, Becky Jabour of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Courtney Michele Mayfield of Shreveport, La., Taylor Jabour of Nashville, Tenn., Lauren Jabour Coulon of Vicksburg, Michael Farr and David Farr, both of Cornwall-On-Hudson, New York; sister, Alyce Monsour of Dallas, Texas, (formerly of Longview); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Wayne Jabour; and three brothers, Isaac Thomas, Naseep Thomas and Philip Thomas.
Services will be 2 p.m. today, April 12, 2011, at Riles Funeral Home in Vicksburg, with the Very Reverend John Morris, pastor of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2709 Washington Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180 and to the Salvation Army, 530 Mission 66, Vicksburg, MS 39183.
