Barbara Adams

Barbara Ann Adams(Rider) 75, of Taneytown, MD passed away Saturday February 8, 2025 at Gettysburg Hospital. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Earl Andrew Rider and the late Mary K English. She is survived by son and daughter in law Frank and Stacy Ward of Hampstead MD; son and daughter in law Charles(Buster) and Amy Hawkins of Westminster MD; daughters Mary K Hawkins of Westminster, MD and Rose Hawkins of Westminster, MD; 10 grandchildren; Brianna Konenski, Haley Ward, Axel Alexander, Ashton Alexander, Aidan Lavender, Reilly Hawkins, Andrew Hawkins, Evan Hawkins, Grayson Hawkins and Landon Hawkins; brother and sister in law Ron and Carol Rider of Port St. Lucie, FL.; 1 nephew, 1 niece; 3 grandnephews, 2 grandnieces and 1 great-grandniece.

She was predeceased by a daughter who passed shortly after birth.

She was a 1969 graduate of Frankford American High School in Frankford Germany where she lived on an Army base with her mother and step-father. She was involved in the PTA and worked as a substitute teacher at Timber Grove Elementary School in the 1980's when her children attended school there. She worked most of her life in customer service.

She loved playing Keno and scratch off lottery tickets. She loved music, especially Motown music. Her favorite movies were Mildred Pierce(1945) and White Christmas. As the great-granddaughter of Irish immigrants, she was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a devout Catholic.
