Barbara Jean Devezin Braxton

Barbara Jean Devezin Braxton departed this life on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the age of 76. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. She was a Devout Catholic and a dedicated nurse of 44 years whose life and service impacted many lives. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Barry A. Braxton, Sr.; loving mother of Barry A. Braxton, Jr., and Allison Theresa Braxton-Baehr (Charles/Eric); and grandmother of Carter Baehr. Barbara was born on May 23, 1946, the eldest daughter of the late Bernard Solomon Devezin and Josephine Smith Devezin. Sister of Kenneth Devezin (Eglah) and Edwardo Bodden (Aliska). Daughter-in-law of the late Rudolph Braxton and Eleanora Johnson Braxton. Sister-in-law of the late Shirley Braxton, Rodney Braxton Sr., Betty Leon (Robert), Stanley Braxton, Sister Sienna Marie Braxton, Carolyn Braxton, and Marilyn Braxton. Sister-in-law of Veronica Braxton (Rodney Sr.), Kenneth Braxton Sr. (Marilyn), Audrey Temple (Harold), and Eglah Devezin (Kenneth). Devoted and cherished friend of Adrain Francis, Lorraine James, the Bertrand Family (Sidney, Ronald, Sandra) and Demarius Mahan. Also survived by a host of cousins (Devezin), nephews and nieces (Braxton & Devezin), and other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are all invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 3, 2023, 11:00 am, at St. Raymond and St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Ave., NOLA with Rev. Stanley K. Ihuoma officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the hour of service. Rosary Recitation will begin at 10:00 am.
