Barbara Jane (Fleming) Buenger, 82, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her home. Born April 25, 1941 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Thurston and Mildred Fleming. She was a graduate of Western High School in Baltimore. Barbara married her late husband, Anthony "Tony" W. Buenger, Sr. in 1959. They were together for 70 years. After his death on June 11, 2023, she found it hard to go on without him. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Cook and her brother, Thomas Fleming. Barbara was a member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, bowling, gardening, and spending time with her family. In addition to being a homemaker, Barbara also worked at Camp Round Top for many years. She is survived by a son, Anthony W. Buenger, Jr. of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Tina D. Brady and husband Matthew of Gettysburg; a daughter-in-law, Esther Johann "Jody" Buenger of Alabama; six grandchildren, Jeremy Schaffner and wife Cortney, Joani Harlan and husband Ben, Alexandria Buenger, Devin Buenger and wife Treasure, Stirling Buenger and wife Katya, Andrew Eckenrode; and four great-grandchildren, Dean Schaffner, Strider Schaffner, Fiona Harlan, and Alexander Harlan. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Gettysburg United Methodist Church, 30 West High St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30am until the start of the service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7231 Ritchie Hwy, Glen Burnie, MD, at 2:00PM. Arrangements by Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor, Gettysburg.
