Barbara Ann DeBerry

Barbara Ann DeBerry, age 76, of Erie, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at home in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She was born on July 3, 1941, in Jackson, Tenn., daughter of the late Robert L. DeBerry and Louella Tharp DeBerry.

She was a resident of Erie for over 50 years, then relocated to Murfreesboro, Tenn. She retired from the Metro Health Center after working 40 years. Barbara decided to change careers to do Home Health Care, which was for the past ten years. She was a member of Mount Ebal Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Senior Missionary Board, as well as working in the kitchen. She was known as "Granny" by everyone and she loved to cook. Her specialty was her cornbread and dressing and not to mention she loved to dress. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Antonio DeBerry; four brothers, Charles, Robert Jr., John and Elvon DeBerry; and two sisters. Rachel DeBerry and Lelia DeBerry Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Felecia (LV) Logan of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and a son, Anthony Dwayne DeBerry of Erie, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy Cattledge of Erie, Pa.; two brothers, James (Mary) DeBerry of Jackson, Tenn. and Odell (Ruby) DeBerry of Elgin, Ill.; a goddaughter, Teasa Howard of Erie, Pa.; a special friend, Sherry Powell; Natalie Still, who is like a daughter; nine grandkids; 17 great-grandkids; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 19th, from 5-8 p.m. The homegoing service will be held Saturday, January 20th at 12 noon. Both will be held at Mt. Ebal Missionary Baptist Church, 1617 E. 26th Street, Erie.
