Barbara Dill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 1, 2025.
Greenville - Barbara Kay (Curry) Dill, 76, of Greenville, South Carolina, formerly of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on July 26, 2025. She is survived by sons Daniel (Lisette) and David (Jillian), beloved granddaughter Mabry, and sister Judith Watson (Andrew). She is reunited in death with her husband, the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Dill, their daughter Jennifer, and her parents Sherman and Kathryn Curry.

Mrs. Dill was born to teach. She was named the teacher of the year for the northwest suburbs of Chicago early in her career before leaving education to devote herself to her family. She resumed her career two decades later, and was again honored as her school's teacher of the year in her first year back in the classroom. Mrs. Dill taught second through sixth grades in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Orlando, and Lakeland. A lifelong learner, Mrs. Dill particularly enjoyed nurturing a love of reading in others.

A native of Springfield, Ohio, Mrs. Dill graduated from Springfield North High School and The Ohio State University, summa cum laude. She met her husband in the fourth grade while attending Oakland Presbyterian Church. They were married for 45 years. An understated but equal partner in his ministry, the Dills served congregations in Illinois, Kentucky, Virginia, and Florida.

Mrs. Dill will be especially remembered for her love, diligence, loyalty, and thoughtfulness. She was a careful listener, a trusted adviser, and a hard worker. She made a difference.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida. Interment will be on a later date at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library or to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati.

Ever the teacher, Mrs. Dill's favorite verse (Romans 10:9) provides others with the opportunity to find the same strength and hope that steeled her through life's challenges: "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Well done, thy good and faithful servant.
