Barbara Hoose

Barbara Joan Hoose (née Koester), 84, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Annapolis, Maryland.

Born on April 9, 1941, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Barbara dedicated her life to caring for others-both through her long and impactful nursing career and her unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

Barbara began her nursing journey at Elizabeth General Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ, where she worked in the Emergency Room for the majority of her career. Her passion for fast-paced medical care led her to thrive in this demanding environment. Later, she took on a leadership role in the hospital's Pre-Admission Testing department before returning to emergency care in the Psychiatric Emergency Room. Her commitment to helping others never wavered. After many years of service in Elizabeth, Barbara and her husband relocated to Toms River, NJ, where she continued practicing nursing until her retirement.

A devoted Catholic throughout her life, Barbara found deep comfort and strength in her faith. She held a special reverence for the Blessed Mother and was known for maintaining a "prayer line" that reflected both her compassion and spiritual dedication. Her faith was a guiding light that shaped every aspect of her life.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Robert Hoose; two children, Michael Hoose (Linda) and Daniel Hoose (Cindy); and seven grandchildren-Megan, Cassidy, Hailey, Jordan, Mackenzie, Kyle, and Gianna-who brought endless laughter and happiness into her life.

A private family service is planned to celebrate Barbara's life.
