Barbara Jane Peterson (née Myers)

January 19, 1935 - April 21 2025

Barbara was born January 19, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was born to eternal life April 21, 2025 at 90 years of age.

Barbara was proceeded in death by her father Richard Myers (Maye), her mother Elinore Conrad (Fred), sister Alice Love, her grandson Shaun Reusch, and former husband Thomas Peterson.

She will be lovingly missed by her sister Sue Munger (Gary), brother-in law Jim Love, her children Kim Sudar (John), Tommy Peterson (Keri), Candace Hare (Dan), grandsons Chad Reusch (Sarah), Corey Peterson, David Sudar (Mariana), Jack Sudar (Emily), granddaughter in law Carrie Reusch, 4 great grandchildren, and other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Barbara attended Whitefish Bay High School and then transferred to Shorewood High school. She was a homemaker and also worked at Marshall Fields and Shorewest Realtors.

She had a great smile and could easily laugh about good memories. She loved reading, movies, sewing, quilting, biking, playing cards, games, and gardening. She cared about the poor and less fortunate and social justice.

She had a strong Christian faith and was involved in Bible studies and regular church attendance until she was unable to drive. At that time she enjoyed religious programs on television and email devotionals.

She spent the last two years of her life at Care-Age Nursing and Rehabilitation center where she was well-cared for. She had many opportunities for socializing with the staff and other residents. We are grateful for all her caregivers at Care-Age as well as Allay Hospice.

At the end of her life she was asking to go home to be with the Lord and looked forward to spending eternity in the arms of her savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation begins at 10 am on June 28th followed by a celebration of life at Meadowbrook Church, 1025 North 70th street in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin at 11am. After the service there will be a meal at the church. On Monday morning there will be and then a graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery for the family.

Barbara, or as I always called her, Mrs. Peterson, was my dear friend´s mother. She was gracious about my almost daily visits to the Peterson home. We never spoke of it, however she must have known it was a place of refuge for the challenging time of adolescence. Kim, and also Tom, could be counted on to anchor me when I needed it.

I vividly remember a significant sleep-over at the Peterson home. Barbara and Kim´s dad had prepared a scavenger hunt for us. When looking at the list, 7 or 8 preteens puzzled over the clue "a recipe for hors d´oeuvres". (We could have raced right over to my house... appetizers galore). That night was one of the best of my childhood memories. That was before Candi was born. Wow! Only Mrs. Peterson could pull that off with.

I do not recall which significant birthday Kim was celebrating when Barbara hosted us at the George Watts tea room. She wanted to celebrate Kim in style. We were to write down memories. I couldn´t possibly capture them all, but Mrs. Peterson asked, and I gave it my all. Because Barbara was Kim, Tom, and Candi´s mom.

My condolences to Barbara´s family. I enjoyed working with Barbara at Shorewest Realtors all those years. She always had her clients best interest at heart!
