In Loving Memory of Barbara Jean Ross (Harris)

August 2, 1949 - January 21, 2025

Barbara Jean Ross (Harris) of Edgewater, Florida, left this world unexpectedly on January 21, 2025. Born on August 2, 1949, in Miami, Florida, Barbara was a beacon of love and devotion to her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Francis William Ross, Jr., her loving son, Calvin Lynn Cearley, Jr., and his wife, Angie Cearley; and her treasured grandson, Crosby Cearley, who's mother Jess Cearley was her loving daughter in law for 14 years. She was predeceased by her parents, George Harris and Genevieve Watson Harris, whom she cared for with unwavering love and dedication throughout their lives. She is deeply missed by her brothers, Bill Harris and Walt Harris.

Barbara built an impressive career spanning over four decades in the banking industry. Starting as a teller in California, her ambition and dedication propelled her to an executive role in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her professional achievements were matched by her steadfast commitment to her family.

Barbara's greatest joy was her family, and she was a devoted mother and grandmother who found immense pride in supporting her son and grandson in their endeavors. In her downtime, she cherished life's simple pleasures: enjoying classic movies, losing herself in a good book, and filling her home with the timeless melodies of Patsy Cline, Anne Murray, Bobby Vinton, and Neil Diamond.

She will forever be remembered for her boundless generosity, empathy, and selflessness. Barbara's thoughtful and loving spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on February 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Maitland Art & History Museum, Chapel & Mayan Courtyard, located at 231 W. Packwood Ave., Maitland, FL 32751.

Barbara's light will continue to shine through the love she gave and the memories she created. In her honor, the family encourages acts of kindness and generosity that reflect her caring and giving nature.

A memory that sticks me even until today, is when we were at a family gathering when I was a teenager and I expressed what I wanted to be my carreer when I was an adult. I don't remember what it was, could've been an artist or an archeologist, but someone shot me down and started say what other things I should be instead. I got quiet and stopped talking. Afterward she came to me and "you do whatever YOU want to do". Never really got much encouragement from adults up to that point about my person goals, so her saying that has stuck with me now that I'm over 30 years old. I'm going to miss her.

My fondest memory of Barbara was and will always be when we both were waiting in the waiting room as they prepped Jessica to give birth to our first grandchild. We spoke about our first born and we wondered who Crosby was going to look like. How excited we were to meet him, hold him, cuddle and definitely spoil him.
I will cherish the memory and I will continue to love, spoil and comfort our grandson in time of need.
