GREENSLADE
Early morning, May 25, 2013, Barrie Faulkner Greenslade passed from life on earth. Barrie leaves behind many friends as well as untold amount of cracks and crevasses, vehicles of many sorts, be it aircraft, trains, fast cars, fire trucks, oilfield equipment, ships, tugs, offshore rigs and anything else he could frame in his Canon camera lens to leave lasting photo impressions for all to enjoy.
Barrie was born in Exeter, Devonshire County, England on September 2, 1934 to Ronald and Madeline Charlotte (nee Faulkner) Greenslade who both predeceased him in death. After graduation from Exeter School he enlisted in the Royal Army with service in East Africa, the Far East, and Korea. After release, he joined the Colonial Police Force and was stationed in Bermuda. Barrie became a naturalized American citizen and was an instructor/driver for Greyhound Bus retiring in late '90s only to become more active in life and extended friendships.
Barrie has one daughter, Catherine Anne Bjork, Polson, MT as well as two grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth and Colton Greenslade. Along with his thirty-three year marriage to Mary (nee Chapman) he wonderfully assumed the father/friend/grandparent roll with Mary's children, daughter Mary (Richard) Rensberry, Oakland, CA and her children Katie Risinger (Ivan) Dorflinger, Austin, TX, Michael (Heather) Risinger II, San Francisco, CA with new grandson, Aden, daughter Ann (Frank) Jones, San Antonio, TX, and their children Kayla Ann Jones and Thomas Frank ("TJ") Jones, son Gerald A. "Jerry" (Corley) Cox, Jr., their children Lauren Madeline and Carson Taylor Cox, son, Wallace J. "Wally" (Lisa) Cox, daughter Heather Stieren Hardeman along with their grandson, Butcher Elby Cox.not forgetting his dog and cat, Sheldon and Ginger.
Services will be tomorrow, Thursday, May 30, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8500 Cross Mountain Trail, San Antonio, (210) 698-1941 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions to an animal charity of your choice, the Patrick Heath Public Library, Boerne or Benedictine Sisters of Boerne is encouraged. Barrie never had a dog or cat of any specific breeding. Each were chosen by Barrie at animal shelters and he picked the mutt/cat who wanted out the most.

Mary, so sorry to hear of Barrie's passing. I recall the day I met Barrie, sometime in the late 1970's... he pulled into the Cotulla "bus station" and I checked his passengers, searching for illegal aliens. I think I checked him too... although I don't recall the details, he must have been ok, as he married my best friend's mother just a few years later. RIP Barrie... thoughts and prayers to Mary and the family.

I don't think I can express well how much I am going to miss Barrie. He was a poet at heart, in all the ways that means. It was an honor to know him. My thoughts and prayers to you, Mary and your entire family.

Barrie was not only one of my favorite Clients, but a dear person and friend. I greatly enjoyed our almost daily conversations about the many topics Barrie and I shared an interest in, including: wristwatches, trains (real and models), aircraft, boating, Formula 1 Racing, autos, politics, pets, and occasionally investments. Coincidentally, my Mom also past away the same day. Barrie was a very unique person, with a great wit and deep concern for others including my Mom, who he always inquired about during her recent infirmity. It was a blessing to visit with Barrie last Thursday, when I took a brief break from my Mom's hospital bedside to return to my office in Boerne. The Lord blessed me with these two warm, wonderful people in my life, and also provided me with an opportunity to share time with both of them in their final days. My prayers and thoughts are with Barrie and his wonderful family.
