Barry Blanchard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 27, 2024.
In loving memory of Barry Christopher Blanchard, his family announces his passing on July 11, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on March 29, 1946, Barry lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and his community of Marrero, Louisiana.

Barry was a renowned jeweler and proud and respected part owner of the family business, New Orleans Jeweler Supply Co., Inc., located at 206 Chartres Street in New Orleans for over 60 years until its closure in 2009. His career was not just a profession but a passion, as he had a love for anything that sparkled, which was evident in both his craft and his hobbies. Beyond his workbench, Barry was an avid plant enthusiast. He cherished his garden and greenhouse, taking pride in his prized plants and actively participating in a local plant club. In his younger days, he enjoyed skiing, racket ball, and staying active with workouts at home.

A faithful attendee of FPC of Marrero for nearly 40 years, Barry worshipped alongside his family, praising with fervor and joy at every opportunity. His life was a testament to his deep faith and commitment to God.

Barry was a man described by many as jolly, friendly, caring and exceedingly generous. He cherished his wife Valerie profoundly, with whom he built a family that brought them many blessings. They were married for 46 beautiful years. He adored his two daughters, grandchildren (4) and great-grandchildren (10), loving them more than words can express.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Blanchard; daughters, Kellen Santos and Tricia Santos; grandchildren, Rae Anne M. Naquin (Jason Naquin) and their children Seth, Lincoln, and Kennedy; Dana Landry (Devin Thibodeaux) and their children Nevaeh, Forest, and River; Frankie Harpster II and his children Jemma, Bricelyn, and Luca; and Christian Boothe (Alexandra Boothe) and their child Elijah. He also leaves behind his sister, Cynthia Falterman, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who considered him akin to family. Barry was preceded in death by
Elmer Lois LeBlanc Blanchard (mother),
Lynn August Blanchard (father), Loislyn Scardino (sister), Danny Blanchard (brother), Charles Joseph Christina Sr. (father-in-law), Clare Emily PFleuger Christina (mother-in-law), along with three brothers-in-law, three nephews and one niece.

Honoring the wishes of Mr. Blanchard and his family, there will be no public funeral service. His legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him. We ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant. Until we meet again.

Barry was an awesome guy. I owned a Cash for Gold in Kenner. Thats where we met. Years later I owned 4 and than closed all 4 but we still did business. He was such a great guy. Just saw this and breaks my heart. But I know Barry knew who the Lord was based on conversations. He will be missed. RIP MY JEWELRY BROTHER

Where do I start? We went to Holy Cross high school together, we went to Southwestern college together, we drove and raced our GTO´s together, while single-we took our dates out together, we rode the red Ferrari together on Saturday night,we both got married and did many things together, we aged gracefully together,
What more can I say.
He was my Best Friend and is truly missed.

He took pictures of my wedding. His prayers and loving spirit blessed my soul.
