I have two favorite memories of Hootie... One was when he would come to the store, get a small coke, light up a Winston, and lean back on the coke box and enjoy. He could make a dead man want a coke and a cigarette the way he enjoyed those moments...

The other was Christmas a few years back when a bunch of us gathered at Yesterday's. Hootie was there and we all had a great time visiting and remembering old times. When we needed a refill, Hootie would call the waitress by blowing on the empty beer bottle and you could hear it for miles it was so loud!!! Everyone would laugh and try to do it, but nobody could get as loud as Hootie.

At the end of the night, we went to pay the tab and found it had been taken care of by Hootie... That was just the way he was...

Oh... And one more memory...
"He ain't never been caught...
He ain't never been treed...
Some folks say he looks a lot like me..."

Rest in Peace Hootie! And God bless the family. He will be greatly missed!
