Barry Turner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 14 to Sep. 20, 2014.
Turner, Barry
September 11, 1964 - August 28, 2014
On Thursday, August 28, 2014 we lost our dear friend, Barry Turner to ALS. Barry was in the comfort of his home with his wife, Leanne by his side. He is survived by his wife, Leanne; his son, Daley; and his daughter, Stella. Barry's love for his family, soccer and teaching will be among some of his legacies.
Our beloved Barry "Baz" was born in the United Kingdom and attended college at St. Mary's College. In 1989, Barry moved to the USA to be with Leanne whom he later married and had two children, Daley (18) and Stella (12). Barry's love for soccer followed him from the UK to the US. Barry was a strong fixture in the Tustin community. Barry taught Math at Hillview High School for 22 years. During that time he was the head coach for Foothill High School's boys' soccer team. In 2002, he was voted Tustin Unified High School Teacher of the Year. CIF also recognized Barry as the Role Model Coach of the year for the 2011/2012 season. In 2012 Hillview High School was torn down and turned into a sports complex named Barry Turner Field.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on September 21, 2014 at 5 pm at Barry Turner Field, 19061 Foothill Blvd, Santa Ana, CA 92886.
In Lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to their children's college fund - http://www.gofundme.com/djhiqs.

Barry came into our lives, late in his life. Though, through the impact he had on our daughter, Lindsay, we feel like we have known him for years. Thankfully, we knew him, and will be friends with his family for all time.
