Bea M. Carlson, 79, formerly of Mahtowa, Minn., died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, in the Sunrise Home, Two Harbors, after a strong fight with cancer. She was born Sept. 24, 1923, to Earnest and Anna (Hagberg) Carlson, in Grand Rapids. She grew up in Bovey, and graduated from Greenway High School. She served in the Navy during World War II in Washington D.C., and attended Gustavus Adolphus College. She married Lawrence in 1947, in Bovey. She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church for over 50 years in Mahtowa, and enjoyed flower gardening and baking. She recently moved to Two Harbors, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by husband Lawrence; sisters Ardyce Stringer, Murial Olson, and Verna Zetah. She is survived by daughter Christine (Russell) Lind of Two Harbors; brother Bill (Sharon) Carlson of Bovey; grandchildren Scott Lind of Hayward, and Beth Lind of Two Harbors; aunts Betty Anderson of Cloquet, and Ruby Olson of Tenn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. VISITATION:12 Noon until the 1 p.m. service Monday, Jan. 13, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Two Harbors. Burial at Mt. Salem Cemetery, Mahtowa, Minn. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
