Bernice J. Samler, 82, of Hazleton passed away Thursday in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton. She was born in Beaver Meadows, daughter of the late Chester and Bessie (Arthur) Woodring.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by Fabri-Kal. She was a member of the Beaver Meadows VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Greater Hazleton Area Senior Citizens.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Samler; and a sister, Elizabeth Woodring.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Lindquist and her husband, Curtis, Freeland; Christopher Samler and his wife, Judy, Drums; Elizabeth Correale and her husband, Joseph, Hazleton; Frederick Samler and his wife, Melanie, Beaver Meadows; Chester Samler, Jeanesville; daughter-in-law, Stacey Samler; brother, Jack Woodring and his wife, Elaine, Beaver Meadows; 11 grandchildren, Shandra Samler, Jason Samler, Thomas Wanick, Jeremy Lindquist, Jenna Boran, Jamie Perchak, Brandon Samler, Justin Samler, and Paige and Noah Samler; Jalena Samler; 10 great-grandchildren, Julian Lindquist, Jaceelynn, Jemma and Jadda Perchak, Jayla, Jalissa and Jeffrey Boran, Emily and Brianna Wanick, and Danny Werkeiser; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Jane Hess officiating. Interment to follow in Citizens Cemetery, Beaver Meadows.
Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
