Bertrand Collin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2024.
Bertrand Collin, 90, of Newington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Dubois) Collin for 67 years. Born in Clair, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the youngest of ten children to the late Honore and Alma (Michaud) Collin, he was a longtime resident of Newington and a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Bert served his country honorably as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired in 1993 from Caval Tool after 30 years of employment. Bert and Rita enjoyed time in their summer home in Eagle Lake, Maine, where he proudly displayed his 17 lbs. Lake Trout. They also enjoyed two cross-country road trips. In his earlier days, he enjoyed playing cards with his siblings and their spouses on Saturday nights. He took pleasure in his famous martinis, vegetable gardening, fishing and various woodworking projects. He was a proud grandfather to his beloved granddaughters. Along with his wife Rita, he leaves his two sons, Peter Collin and his wife Lynne of Newington and John Collin and his wife Elise of Arizona, and two granddaughters, Amanda Collin and Nico Carlone of Newington and Sarah Collin and Mario Perone of Meriden. He also leaves many loved nieces and nephews along with two sisters-in-law, Winnie Collin and Martha Landry and a brother-in-law David Dubois and his wife Theresa. He was predeceased by his siblings, Albenie, Lucien, Camille, Fernand, Yvon, Leonide, O'Neil, Marc and Jeannette, and his beloved canine companion Tashe. His family would like to thank the staff of the Atrium in Rocky Hill and the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington.
