I am writing on behalf of my sisters Cate McIntyre Murschel and Marti McIntyre Jernberg and our family. We send our deepest sympathy to Helen, Devon, Don and Leslie and their families. We were shocked and saddened to learn of Betty's death. Betty was our strong Canadian cousin. A bridge to our parents and our own family connection. We have wonderful memories from our youth of Sunday dinners at the McKay dining room table. We had wonderful summer visits to the Showers' farm and Brown's Corner church. We continued to make family memories during summer and winter visits to Frontier Lodge, Betty and John's visits to trade show events in Illinois and stays at Boyne Mtn. or visits the "Soo". So many treasured times. Betty was a nurse, mother, outdoor woman, an amazing chef, an author, a businesswoman, a crafter of beautiful scrapbooks, an historian and our very beloved cousin. God Bless you all!!! Most sincerely, Susan

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Betty. She was always a very jovial person with a huge, infectious laugh. What a great cook and baker she was and we enjoyed many delicious pies and butter tarts while she was in Elliot Lake. What fun we used to have at all the wild game dinners. A toast to a great host and super chef! Betty's generosity and kindness will never be forgotten.

My condolences to Betty's family and friends. I didn't know Betty for a long time but I felt her warmth and enjoyed her friendly nature whenever we met, usually at Red Hat functions. I was unable to attend the service this morning due to illness. My thoughts and prayers were with all of you and I am thankful I was able to watch the live stream of the lovely service conducted by her good friend, Betty Pretty.
I know Betty will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Don, Leslie and Families:
Our condolences on your mom's passing.
Sickness prevents us attending today but we want you to know how much we admired and respected your Mom. Both she and your Dad were generous mentors to me when I was a young and inexperienced Conservation Officer in Elliot Lake. Your Mom's coffee and wise and compassionate counseling will always be
remembered.Thank You Leslie for bringing your Mom to the farm for a visit this past summer.

First cousin John and now cousin Betty, my first cousins are becoming fewer and what a loss. But I have many fond memories of life with the McKay family. Betty was truly one of those wonderful people who always had a smile for you and a story about our relatives. The summer reunions were the times to reconnect with family and I will never forget those days with Betty and John.

So sad to hear of Betty's passing. We last talked in mid summer and she said she was thinking of moving back to our area of Southern Ontario near where she was born. That would have allowed us to visit so much more and we would have had so many memories to discuss........... nursing at Woodstock General, dances at Sarnia where she first met John, and so many visits to Frontier Lodge that we made over the years.
To Don and Leslie and families we send our prayers. She will be missed !!

Hi, Betty. I know you are reading over my shoulder right now and making light of my tears. My friends knew you as my "second mother" - always making me feel comfortable and welcome beginning at the age of 8 years old on my very first visit to Canada. For the next 38 years, you were just as sweet and nice as the first time I met you. I will never forget you and Gladys singing me happy birthday over the phone from Branson, Missouri all those years ago! You will eternally be a special soul in my heart. I will never be able to repay you for all your gifts of time.
Much love and respect,
Brent

Aunt Betty, you will be in our hearts forever. We are filled with so many wonderful memories of great times with you! Frontier Lodge fishing, big game dinners, backroad tour to Maryland, dinners and great kitchen table talks and laughs! What an amazing, strong, fun-filled, caring, hard-working woman Aunt Betty was.
We are sending our biggest hugs and lots of love to our cousins and spouses. We hope that some comfort comes knowing how blessed your Mom is to be out of pain and enjoying her early years with family. God bless! We now have another special angel to watch over us. Love Lisa, Les, Rachel and Ali Clark
