Beverly Ann Zenker

BEVERLY A. ZENKER
January 7, 1926 – February 7, 2017

Beverly Ann Zenker passed away in her sleep in the early morning of February 7, 2017 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown, Ohio. She was 91 years old.
Beverly was born January 7, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois while her parents, Andrew Engels and Jane Miller, were traveling by train to New York City from visiting family in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was brought up in Woodside, Queens, NYC, and graduated in 1944 from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School in Brooklyn. Beverly attended St. John's University and had various interesting employments which culminated in her joining the ranks of the NYC Police Department where she served from 1951 to 1956, leaving to raise her children.
Beverly met her husband Henry Zenker at the Carroll Club for Catholic Girls in NYC where she was acting in a play. They married on November 3, 1951 at St. Theresa's Church in Woodside, Queens, and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year.
In 1962, Henry and Beverly, with five children, moved from Jackson Heights, Queens, NYC into a new home on former pasturelands surrounded by dairy farms south of the village of Washingtonville. Beverly was employed by Orange County Social Services in 1970 before becoming an investigator for the New York Department of State retiring in 1989.
She was a founding member of St. Ann's Court, Catholic Daughters of America, at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville. She also enjoyed her many friendships as a member of the Cornwall meeting of TOPS.
She is survived by her husband Henry and son Stephen, of Washingtonville; son Drew, and spouse Christine, of Lehighton, PA; son Michael, and spouse Mary, of West Coxsackie, NY; daughter Jane, and spouse Jeff Richter, of North Lima, OH. Grandchildren, Andrew Zenker, Julia Zenker, Emily and spouse Solomon Sok, Noah Zenker and spouse Abby, Anna Zenker, Evan Zenker, Laura Zenker, Rebecca Zenker Charlotte Zenker, Benjamin Richter, Jenna and spouse James Gray. Great grandchildren, Micah Sok, Jediah Sok, Nathan Zenker, and two on their way into this world.
She is predeceased by parents and her beloved son Christopher.
Special thanks must be given to Beverly's daughter, our sister, our aunt, Jane and her husband Jeff Richter, and their children Benjamin and Jenna, for visiting with Mom every day of her one and a half year residence at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in Ohio. The family will greatly miss the time spent with Mom at Jane and Jeff's home. Mom was a wonderful wife and mother who cared deeply for her children. We all love her so much.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY, 10992. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 13, 2017, a 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 42 Goshen Ave., Washingtonville, NY with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery also of Washingtonville, NY.
