Billy Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 21, 2024.
Billy Ray Smith born March 30th 1952 died March 18th 2024.

Billy was known by many different names, including Big O, Papa and Great Papa. His names are an extension of his Life. From friends and family to grandkids and on to great grandkids. Billy had a very rich life. He never felt poor in life, he never felt humbled standing among wealthier men, he knew he had everything he needed and hard work and the lord would help him get the rest. He could b*lls*** with the best of them. He'd hook you with just enough truth in his opener just to twist ya up good with a crazy story. He embellished and flirted with nearly every waitress, nurse, valet parking attendant, young or old because it made him feel good to make others feel good. And he never meant offense but would be first to apologize if a lady was offended. He would call himself a mans man. Liked beer, bbq, and building things. Motorcycles, cars, sports, were his delight! He loved his wife so much that he kept promises to her years after she had passed on. He never claimed to be perfect or boasted about being better than anyone at most things, but he'd say he would do it the right way, if he indeed knew he was great doing that thing.

A truly kind man, trying to do the right thing the best he could and live his life for the lord.

Born in Seymour TX, he grew up and left school early to get a job to help out his family, once of age he joined the Army and went to Vietnam. Once back home he bought land, and started working different jobs. He has a colorful employment history too. He has been a repo man, concrete man, convenience store man, builder. He was reliable, hard working, and surprisingly crafty. If he didn't know how to do something and couldn't find someone to ask, he'd try to come up with a quick fix until someone could come later. Sometimes those fixes did not work. But he didn't give up, he was a fighter. Fighting to the end. Nanny needed him more than us, especially this last year.

We are so proud to call this man family and so saddened he didn't meet nanny on the back of a motorcycle. Sliding in with fire on his jacket and smoke from the tires. He will be truly missed.

Billy is survived by son Michael Peacock and wife Laurie, Daughter Cindy Adams and many grand kids and great grandkids who absolutely adored him.
