Dear Papa,
Since you've left us after a long and well-lived life, I keep reminding myself of how fortunate we all were to have had you as the pillar of our family. For myself, I feel unbelievably fortunate to have had 26 years with the most wonderful of grandfathers.
I will always remember you as a gifted storyteller who delighted in entertaining people (especially your grandchildren). Some of my earliest memories are of being mesmerized by your tales of Lake Baikal, Kirkland Lake, or the Pied Piper (to name just a few).
As a proud engineer, you loved science and math, but you also understood the beauty and value of poetry, literature, and music. I will forever cherish the volumes of Chekhov and Pushkin that you gave me as a teenager. You inspired me to love books, language, and stories for that, I am so grateful.
Your warmth and hospitality made the house on Westdale feel like a haven and a second home for me. Pulling into the driveway, more often than not, I would see you sitting in your familiar easy chair by the window reading your newspaper or the latest Economist. I'll miss our cozy chats about history, politics, and family stories (past and present). I'll also miss sitting by the pool with a glass of whiskey or going for drives to Dairy Queen and the local greasy spoon.
Papa, you were always deeply encouraging and ready to offer a kind word or a piece of advice - even if we didn't always listen to you! You delighted in the many successes of our family and showed a constant interest in our lives. In fact, even during our last conversation with each other, despite being weary and sick, you still remembered to ask about my new job. It meant so much to feel your support and pride as I navigated through life.
Papa, I will miss you so much. However, I am comforted by the sure knowledge that your legacy will continue to live on in your many loved ones.

I am so deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my Uncle Boris. He was a great friend to my parents Joan and Clay Eavis. In fact, right up to his passing he continued to check in with our family. I had the privilege of having several opportunities to sit down with him and have really good conversations about life. He always made me feel like anything was possible and was truly an inspiration for me as I lived my life. Such a brilliant man and thoughtful and caring soul you will be sorely missed.
Sending love and condolences to Aunt Jenny and the whole family. We are truly so sorry for your loss.

I always enjoyed the laughs and the time I spend with the Petron family over the years. Boris had lots of passion, and enjoyed his family to the fullest. My condolences to all the Petron's for their loss.

On behalf of Louise and I ,and the Sherman family , I would like to extend our sympathies to the Petron family ,including Mrs Petron , Kathy and Don , Elaine,Bill ,and their families .
We shared many special occasions together over the years ,including anniversaries,Christmas togethers ,birthdays. I have many wonderful memories of my conversations with Mr.petron ,most recently during a visit with him in December.
One memorable moment happened over 40 years ago , when,at a Christmas party, I sat on, and broke a dining room chair. after apologizing profusely, Mr P smiled wryly and whispered don't worry about it Darryl. I tried to fix that chair, it was broken before!

Dear Papa, you have always meant so much to me. I can't put into words how much I will miss you. You were such an incredible mentor, a great listener, and motivator for me. I will never forget all of the conversations we had while eating our classic Dairy Queen meal. You always made sure to steer me on the correct path and gave me a greater perspective on life. I will forever appreciate all the guidance you gave me and now the knowledge to go out and take action on my own. One thing you always told me was that nothing ever gets done without you being the one to put the work in. That message is something that I have always kept with me and it means so much to me. It was always so nice how comforting you were and how easy you were to talk to. Whether it would be problems that I had, or if I just needed someone to speak to I knew that you were always a phone call away. I will miss your soft but contagious laugh so much. Thank you for always being my #1 supporter in anything I decided to do and always motivating me to be better. I love you so much Papa and I miss you more than anything. Rest In Peace

Boris
We have only been in the Petron's circle of family and friends for just over 13 years. Right from the start we were introduced to Bill's parents, Boris and Jenny. It did not take very long for us to recognize and appreciate a strong family bond and profound respect that there was for both of them. In their own ways they both proved to be strong pillars of their family.
We have enjoyed many holidays and celebrations and have always been made to feel comfortable and welcome to be included in some of the family gatherings. During conversations, Boris would consider his response before passing on his thoughts. His words were few, but spoke volumes. I will always remember fondly some of our interesting conversations over a glass scotch.
We are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know the Petron family as close as we have. Kathy, Elaine and Bill are fantastic, loving people who are very well married and have raised extremely intelligent and driven children. All products of great parents who instilled great values. We know the impact Boris's passing has had on all of the family, and our hearts go out to each and every one of them.
Forever remembered
Forever missed

To my friend, Boris:
Boris and I worked together, drove the Highway #401, and socialized together. I have lots of fond memories of our weekends at our old lodge on Ruth Lake. I remember most vividly our weekends at Lady Eaton Hall, especially at this time of the year when we would celebrate Valentine's Day with our wives. It was a celebration to behold. We literally catered to our wives with excellent accommodations, great food, and a gift at each meal. We went cross-country skiing, drank some, but most of all, we enjoyed each other's company.
After retirement, we didn't see so much of each other. Boris continued to drop by, and we would reminisce over coffee about old times. I used to tell Boris that he had a good life, and he should be proud of his 3 children and 8 grandchildren, and I sincerely believe he was.
Rest in Peace, my friend.

My father, Clay, and Boris, worked together for many years. They shared the drive to work, keeping each other company during the long daily commute, to and from Oshawa/Toronto. During this time, I had the great pleasure of knowing Mr. Petron' as a steadfast family man, quietly-spoken, with a soft smile and quick wit. I will always remember him fondly.
My sincere condolences are shared with his loving family at this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,

Dear Papa,
I will never forget the conversation we shared in your office. You showed me all your memorabilia from Ukraine and spoke strictly Russian. You spoke so well! It was if I met my long lost relative and were finally reunited. Your spirit and wisdom is with us everyday, through the stories that Alex tells Jessica and I of you from his childhood. Thank you for raising and supporting an incredible family that now makes this world a better place. Your legacy will continue to live among us and the following generations.
We miss you and love you.

To Boris,
C/O Heaven Branch
Engineer's Club
I'm sure you're now settled on an easy chair at your club, contemplating on a life lived to the fullest, with so many accomplishments in both business and as the patriarch of an impressive family dynasty.
As your KID brother you were like my second father and all through the 40's and early 50's as a mentor that guided me and made sure that I stayed on the straight and narrow... it was a tough job but you and our DAD together persevered.
We had many enjoyable lunches together through the years, discussing family, politics, and the current state of the economy over a glass or TWO of wine. So one day in the future you can expect a call from me for you to get over to the nearest road house restaurant in Heaven so that we can look down and gossip on family comings and goings and despair on the state of the current economy.
Till then... your loving KID brother Walter.
P.S. If I have trouble at the pearly gates I am counting on you to exert your influence and at least get me in the back door.

Boris and Jenny have been neighbours and friends for 56 years, and we have shared many memorable times. The most enjoyable times were our trips, to Spain, Hawaii, Trinidad and Tobago, Cape Cod, and with other DRG members to Lady Eaton Estate. In the past few years trips were to each others home for a few laughs, and maybe a drink or two. We can still hear Boris walking in,"anyone home", and after sitting "what is new with the Climenhagas".
We'll miss you Boris.

Papa,
I can't begin to express how much you meant to me, how much I respected you for the way you lived your life and how you cared so much for all of us. You were truly a blessing in our lives.
When Bill introduced me to you so long ago, you immediately showed your care knowing that I was so far from my own father. Throughout the years, you became my second father always concerned with my well being and happiness. I can never begin to tell you how much this meant to me.
You will live in my heart forever.
Love,
Nui

Papa, although I only recently got to meet you for one weekend last October, it was a glimpse into the person you were, and it was great to share a couple drinks and stories. I was worried you wouldn't like the Filipino porridge I made, but I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was able to see firsthand how positive of an influence you have had on Lara. For that I am grateful. Although I never got the honor to eat Dairy Queen with you, I will make sure to continue that tradition whenever I can. Rest in peace.

01/07/2019 is the day that I lost my sweet Papa. For anyone that had the privilege of knowing him, they know that his heart was very special. His love, support, and kindness meant the world to me. I could always count on him to be at Westdale waiting for me with the kindest smile and warm embrace. He always believed that I would do amazing things in life and encouraged me to work hard in my academics so that I could achieve my life goals. I fondly remember when he cut out a section of the newspaper of an article about women defying odds and excelling in the workforce. For this reason, I would always share with him my report cards as a child in the hopes of making him proud. No matter what happened, I could count on him to pick me up when I fell. I will miss his smile, our Dairy Queen dates and the many unforgettable moments we shared. Papa, I miss you so much that it hurts but I am grateful that you are at peace and watching down at me from the heavens. I love you my sweet Papa.

Boris: It is difficult to accept your passing, but I know you will be watching over us from above. You were a mentor to me for several years and I cherish our many private conversations. There are not enough words to adequately express my feelings of sadness at this time. Until we meet again, Love, Dunny

There are many things that we will miss about our beloved Papa: hearing his warm laughter on phone calls, summer afternoons spent together by the pool, long conversations about politics, literature, and science in the garage room, visits to Dairy Queen or the Oshawa Diner. The list goes on and on... But as we mourn his loss, we are also comforted by these memories and by the sure knowledge that he has left behind a lasting positive impact on those that he loved. We are reminded of the words of Omar Khayyam, one of his favourite poets, When you are so full of sorrow that you can't walk, can't cry anymore, think about the green foliage that sparkles after the rain." We know that papa's legacy will continue to sparkle as his family and friends strive to emulate his example of kindness, intellectual curiousity, hard work, and deep love of family.

Miss you so much Dad. It's interesting. I thought I was prepared for your passing knowing that you had lived a blessed 91 years surrounded by loving friends and family. But your passing has been devastating to me. I have had a couple episodes when I have sobbed uncontrollably thinking that I am going to pass out from the physical toll of my tears. I am not sure I will ever be the same.
You were a wonderful father, friend and my number one supporter. Oh how I miss our afternoon scotch talking about business, Nui and the kids.
I will continue to try and live my life as you lived yours; loving my family, nurturing my children and striving to be the best I can be.
Love you Dad.

Met Boris at DRG and spent many weekends solving the problems of the world at the fishing lodge, near Powassan, over an adult beverage or two.
He was an enthusiastic poker player both up North and in vacant houses he had renovated in the city, and not yet rented.
Many of that gang are gone now but they all left behind some very special memories.
Rest In Peace, Boris.

To The Petron Family, it is with great sadness that I write this, as I know Mr. Petron was a significant figure in all your lives. May you all live with the examples - your husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend set. Always remember even though they are no longer with us, they live within us. I know his spirit is watching over all of you, guiding you and always loving each and every one of you. You were all very lucky to have such a grounded man in your lives. Although a big loss for all of you, his legacy will live on - that I know for sure. With love in my heart, I shed a tear for all of you.
Sincerely,
Lauma, Andy, Kiera, Jordan

Papa,
I will always remember you as one of my biggest supporters from all the times that you used to tell your friends that I followed in your footsteps as a chemical engineer. I will hold always hold onto my rock from Lake Baikal and hold all of the precious memories from our time with you including anything from Olympics in your pool in the summertime to trips to Florida and Epcot in the winter.
We miss you very much.

Word's cannot describe how much I miss you. Happy 92nd birthday, Papa! I hope you are celebrating with a nice bundt cake, and heavily buttered bread (just the way you taught us). What was truly beautiful about you, was that you could really see people for their true selves. I remember when I was a kid everyone always told me I needed to speak up and be louder. You always pulled me onto your lap and advocated for me to stay the same. You told me "Virginia, people will listen when they hear what you have to say. People like me, who are more quiet and who are deep in thought, could command a room because we didn't speak up often or the loudest, but had the most thought in our responses." You were always an amazing listener, but had the spirit to light up a room when you told a story. We'll miss your wild stories of how you saved Kirkland Lake. May your heart soar higher than an eagle. You are loved and missed by all of us. Thank you for the 25 years that you were my grandfather, I know that you'll be watching as I walk for my graduation in April, a big smile on your face. Thank you for being my last patient of 2018, you were by far the kindest, most loving, and patient.

Papa, while the world is a little dimmer with your passing, we will light 92 candles in your honor. Illuminating the sky so you may look down on us as your heart soars like an eagle. We thank you for your love, wisdom, and laughter, and will miss you dearly.
Love your Grandson

What a wonderful tribute to your father especially on the Orthodox New Year today. That would have made him smile. I have the fondest memories of your Dad (and even his Dad playing cards with my Gigi in Miami). The fact that our two fathers were best friends for almost 77 years is a treasure.
How lucky are we to have the BEST DADs!
