Brandon Bailey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 19, 2017.
Brandon Ryan Bailey, 31, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Spokane, WA. Brandon was born September 21, 1985 in Yakima to Kit (Bolt) and David Bailey. He grew up in Yakima and attended West Valley schools participating in band, JROTC, and playing football while working mowing lawns with his good friend Bruce. Brandon graduated from West Valley High School in 2004 and joined the United States Marine Corps that summer.

Brandon worked at Orchard Rite before deploying to Iraq in 2006 to proudly serve his country. Upon his return home, he worked at Cascade Wind and Orchard Rite while in the Marine Corps Reserves. After a lot of hard work and perseverance Brandon began working full time as a Marine Corps Recruiter in 2011 at RSS Yakima where he was eventually promoted to run the station, receiving many awards for the work he did there including Small Station of the Year. In 2015 Brandon was transferred to RSS Puyallup and promoted to Staff Sergeant and earned the title of Career Recruiter. Brandon loved to change young people's lives and felt so much pride with each new Marine he helped create. In June 2017 Brandon moved to Spokane to be an Officer Selection Assistant and enjoyed traveling to Virginia and through Montana for work.

In 2009 Brandon's best friend Brad introduced him to his sister Ashley (Wheeler) and in 2011 Brandon and Ashley got married and welcomed their first child, Khloe Peyton Bailey that August. In September 2013, they had their second daughter Alexus Janelle Bailey. The couple later divorced but remained close friends.

Brandon loved his family and always looked forward to weekends at home with his daughters, girlfriend, Olivia, and her son Landon. He loved watching them play in the pool, trying to teach them to slam dunk on the kiddie hoop, taking the family fishing, having 3 on 1 tickle fights, and watching Disney movies (most recently Moana) snuggled together with popcorn.

Brandon also loved coming home to Yakima to visit his mother and stepfather, sister, Deanne, and her children, always looking forward to lots of laughter, love and elk for dinner. He recently took a trip to Florida with his mother and girlfriend to celebrate his older brother and role model, Mike's retirement from the Navy and made many wonderful memories and had great adventures.

Brandon loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, camping, or fishing he just wanted to be out in nature. Brandon also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and recently bought his dream bike, a 2017 Harley Davidson Street Glide Special that he made sure to say good night to before bed. He was a member of Combat Veterans United and loved riding with the group. Another favorite hobby of his was cooking. There was always a new recipe to try and he enjoyed spending hours smoking ribs and barbecuing for his friends and family, always wanting to know how his culinary creations tasted, and it was always phenomenal.

Brandon is preceded in death by grandparents Robert and Dorothy Broadwell, grandfather Vic Bailey, and best buddy and second father Bruce Patnode.

Brandon is survived by his mother Kit (Jeff) Bolt, father David (Kristy) Bailey, grandmother Mary Anne (Bailey) Cochran, siblings Mike (Angie) Bailey, Deanne (Roberto) Campos, stepsiblings Mike (Ashley) Bolt, Justin (Shannon) Bolt, and Nicole (Joven) Yount, good friend and the mother of his children, Ashley Bailey, his proudest accomplishments – daughters Khloe and Alexus Bailey, girlfriend, Olivia Schantz and her son Landon, and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Brandon will be forever loved and deeply missed. His family invites you to join them in remembering and celebrating his life on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11 am at Tahoma Cemetery for a graveside service with reception to follow at the VFW.

I thought that if I ever had to write a message in a guest book to you it would be when we were old and gray and had rocking chair marks permanently imprinted in our back sides. Not now. My favorite memories, at this point, aren't exact memories. I can't tell you the minute that I fell in love with you, but once it happened I was in. Forever changed. The minute that I met you I knew I would never be the same. I needed to know you.. And as I got to know you, I learned about your heart. I learned how hard of an exterior you put on to be the strong one for others. I learned the love you had for your family and your friends. I learned a love for the Marine Corps. I learned your love for being a father. I used to say I know you like I know me. You were my other half. Our good and bad balanced each other out. There was nothing we couldn't take on. We were gonna be the greatest love story. You held my hand through everything, you gave me a backbone, and taught me how to thrive, not survive. You made me feel more loved than I have felt from anyone in my life. I was more me with you than I have ever been alone, or with my closest family. You made me feel safe and SO LOVED. I don't know that I will ever feel so loved again. I am going to miss you every minute of the rest of my life. I will carry every good thing with me. I'll think about you every single day Lubby.

Brandon I wish I could talk to you and hug you one more time! I hope you know how proud of you I have always been and how much I loved you! I am so heartbroken and miss you so much! RIP my baby boy until we meet again you will always be in my heart, loved and missed. Love you mom.

Brandon,
I remember the times we spent hanging out at the car wash with your sister and her bf mike. You had the biggest crush on me and used to write me letters every day. Those were some of the best times of my early years! Even the time we all got sick from having a water fight in the car wash during winter! You turned into a wonderful amazing man that I am proud to say I knew. Rest easy now my friend.

Brandon,
I remember your smile that lit up your entire face. I remember you getting your drivers license and driving to the house for the first time in your truck, I remember trying to climb into that truck, which I swear was 10 feet off the ground, to go for a ride. I remember your dates at promo dressed in their beautiful dresses and you having to lift them out of that same truck. I remember our talks about 4 wheeling that usually lead to talking about deeper things. These memories and many more I will cherish in my heart. I love you Brandon, Your step Mom

Brandon,

I wanted to let you know that it was a pleasure to grow up in West Valley with you man. I loved the years of playing football and always showing up to practice with our lawn mowers in the trucks because you, me, and mooch all cut grass in the summers. We all used to compete in the weight room always screwing around and never paying attention. RIP bro, you were a great guy.

Brandon and I went to Mountainview together for just a few years. Road the bus together a few times. When I was in the 3rd grade he was my first older boy crush. He invited me to his 6th grade birthday party!! I was so stoked. We were going to skateland. I didn't know how to skate so I stayed in the little rink with one other young kid. You checked on me about every 15 minutes, you were very sweet. We only just became friends on facebook just a few months ago. I am sad to know I can't just message you now when I want to say hi. My prayers go out to your family and loved ones.

Brandon, Working with you at Orchard-Rite was a pleasure. You were always such a gentleman, always willing to do anything to help. We missed you when you moved on to other pursuits in your career. You are missed now even more. Bev McGonagle

Brandon and I went to school together and had many fun times as kids out at Mountainview Elementary. I ran into him a few years after graduation and won't forget that handsome, ear to ear grin he gave me, telling me all about his baby daughter. It was obvious how proud he was of becoming a father.
Brandon was so warm, intelligent, athletic, and a natural leader. On behalf of WVHS Class of 2004, sending deepest thoughts and condolences to Brandon's family and friends.

I remember the first time I met you. I thought you were a stranger following me into my house, but soon realized you were my brother's friend. He always kept me hidden lol. From that point on, we became friends, I was your wife, the mother of your children, and even after parting ways we remained friends and had many long conversations. I'm thankful that I got to share many memories with you including being a part of your Marine Corps family. I enjoyed meeting your brothers and their families along the way. I'll never forget all the BBQ's, UFC nights, Marine Corps balls, Family Day, and team building get togethers. You always made sure that our girls and I knew how much you loved us. You even taught them habits that I hated like drinking out of the milk jug, which Alexus just did yesterday. I will make sure the girls always know how much you loved them and talk about all the memories. We all love and miss you dearly!! ❤

Brandon, I'm sorry I'm not able to make it out there. Recruiting was some of hardest but best days I've had and I'm glad to have shared at least a part of that with you. Thank you for the conversation, the laughs, and competition. Keep the gates of heaven safe, brother. Semper Fidelis

Our lives will be different without you Brandon, but I thank God for how full it was when you were with us. There is such an uncertainty of life on earth and it seems so short. I pray that God will comfort all your family and friends as they share their love and memories of you. You were a super hero and a super dad. I know you're safe in the arms of God, you and you're sidekick are together again, as it should be. Love you.

I can remember the first day I met this cocky Sgt from Yakima and instantly liked him. I feel blessed that I had the honor and privilege to have served with you. We had some great times at conferences, office visits, MC Balls, and camping trips. I will remember our talks about our kids and the women in our lives. I know how fiercely you loved them. You were my friend, my Brother, my family. I take comfort that I will one day serve with you again. Until that day comes I will miss you and honor your memory. Love you Brother.

My family will always be thankful for the help Brandon gave us when we were having issues with our daughter getting in to Army AIT. Even though he was a Marine, he helped us as much as he could. Our prayers go out to his family during this time. Kit, we are here for you if you need anything.

I can not even begin to explain what I am feeling right now. I was so disgustingly proud of you my baby brother. I was always talking about how awesome you were at your job and what an amazing man you have become. All the things you over came. I have so many regrets, not being around you more. You were right here for so long and I never took advantage of that. I am so mad at myself for not being there for you more. Your legacy will never be forgotten and you will always stay alive in your girls and in all of us

There's so much I could say about Brandon, I don't know where to begin. He was one of my best friends and a great mentor. He was my brother. I will miss his positivity and welcoming personality the most, he always welcomed anyone into his life with open arms and had a way of making you feel like family from the first moment. As they say, the streets of heaven are guarded by United Sates Marines. You are loved and missed buddy.
