TO my family, and to those of us whom will never be the same again because we knew and loved Brian,

I believe we will know God is here on earth, when we can see him in each other, because of Brian I've gotten to know God a bit better. Spiritually, we do not exsisit in isolation. Unity is the key to our happiness, Brian was never alone he was surrounded by all of us. I personally will never spend another moment in time alone or lonely for Brian is in my every thought...every day. Happiness is a decision we make, not an emotion we feel. We must make the decision to move forward with our loss of Brian tucked in our hearts forever, and in our own time and way, make the decision to be happy again. Brian would want nothing less for any of us. I believe Brian showed me peace, dignity, love, and repect for myself and others, this will truly help to make my life complete. as I say to my own daughter every night when I kiss her cheek "thank you god for lauren" I now add... and Brian too!
Much Love,
Aunt Mariane

Dear John, Diana, & Adam,
We realize it hasn't been easy for you, and we wanted you to know that we are right there with you in spirit. With God's help, may the road rise to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warmly upon your faces, and the rains fall ever so softly upon your shoulders and, until you meet Brian again, may God hold you forever in the palm of His hand.
Forever loving you.

John & Diana,
I work with John, and I can't begin to tell you how much Brian's short life and death have saddened me and my co-workers. I only met Brian once briefly and regret not knowing him. John and I spoke often about Brian and his fight to live. I can say I am truly impressed with the way Brian cared about his family and friends, and the courage he had to continue living. God bless and take care of each other.

Diana, Adam, John,

My deepest sympathies to the Mehan family. It was a pleasure to have seen Brian grow from a toddler to a man. I'll smile softly when memories of Brian surface -splashing around in our pool on Bailey Ave. or playing baseball behind the middle school as a young child. I'm thankful I had the chance to know him.

I wish that there was something that I could say that would make the pain of losing a child, friend, or sibling just go away. I just want the Mehan family to know that my thoughts are with you in this difficult time. Brian was an amazing person and his actions had influenced each one of us in different ways and will influence our actions for the rest of our lives. He continues to live in each one of us and was loved by all.

I had the opportunity to meet Brian while I was a frequent guest speaker at Plattsburgh High School. In every encounter that I had with Brian, he was so friendly and kind. I was so sad to hear of his diagnosis. I fondly remember running into Brian at the Relay for Life event this past June where he was talking about how hopeful and determined he was in beating his cancer and rejoicing in his remission. I’m so sorry to hear that -- that strength, hope and determination was no match for his cancer. I hope that all of your fond memories may help to fill your mind, continue to warm your heart and lead you through this difficult time.

Dear Mehan family,
I am so sorry to hear about Brian. I did not personally know Brian but felt as if I did just by listening to his Aunt Beth talk about this amazing young man. His journey may have ended here on earth but his spirit lives alive in every heart that he touched even those who he didn’t even know. I know it’s not easy losing a son and brother and it’s so difficult to find the words to help love ones get through such a difficult time but knowing that he loved baseball you can a rest assured that he is your Angel in the outfield and he is playing in the biggest league of them all. Celebrate the joy, love and excitement his amazing young man has given you over the years.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
