I became a friend of Buddy's during the mid 1980s when we played together on a wheelchair basketball team in Austin, Texas. Buddy was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. He was unusual in his respectfulness for all of the people around him. In our basketball organization, which in a given year would include new scrubs and established stars/leaders, he found equal value in all of the folks on the team and treated them accordingly. His love for his teammates was genuine and enduring. I was one those privileged to fall within that umbrella of caring and brotherhood.

Brenda, I only met Buddy once, but I was aware of your devotion to each other. I truly admire you and can empathize with the strain but also the reward of caring for a loved one who requires so much time and almost constant attention. God gave you each other and knew you would be up to the task.

I send you love and prayers,

The world has lost one of its finest and he will be sorely missed . The only consolation is knowing he can now walk, run, dance, and revel in the presence of an ever-loving God.

Dear Brenda - It was my honor to have known Buddy and to have had the opportunity to play guitar and sing some great country songs. The many nights at your home singing with Buddy will rest forever in my heart. We thank God we knew him, and thank God for being your friend.
