Nancy, Kerry and the rest of the Cibart clan,
Our deepest sympathies and condolences on the loss of a gentleman and grassroots scholar. I worked with Lands Branch for some 8 years with Cal and your daughter baby sat for us. Cal was a great mentor and teacher to many subordinates and assistant managers. I do not remember him reciting poetry but I do remember that he sure knew how to work creatively into getting senior Ag officials around to your point of view. Maybe that was because among his eclectic interests he also knew how to get bread to bake best out of a clay oven. Cal, here's a tip of the coffee cup (maybe a tin of beer) to you in that great lands branch of the other divide where there is no squabbling over lease rentals or brush clearing accounts just accolades as to how you can work to make the world better!

Although I only had the pleasure of meeting your parents a few times, I thoroughly enjoyed those encounters. Their lively conversation and vast interests were so easily shared and indeed, I felt I had known them all my life. Jan - you are the product of your remarkable father and amazing mother and that is their legacy. Now that he is "beyond the veil" as my English friends call it, he will continue to be the essence of who he is , much to the delight of all those now in his company. Nancy - you have lost your dearest heart's physical presence and that is so hard. He is always with you though in heart and spirit so hold tight to that. Congratulations to the Cibart family on a life well lived with many extraordinary memories. I hold you in my heart with care for your loss.
I have been told that Charlie is very busy in his next life so I am quite sure he and Cal will meet. And the adventures continue .....

Of all our the regulars I used to serve over the years at Magpies, I remember Cal the best...and that's not likely to change. His particular flavour of humour, and the endearing dynamic between Cal & Nancy, put a smile on my face every time they came in for coffee & treats. All my love to the family.

Cal and I were close friends for decades and nothing and nobody can change that. I will always remember how, whether sawing trees, drinking beer or talking politics, he was like the father I never had. Alas, time brings down even the noblest oak. Rest well, old friend, until we meet again.

Cal gave us many gifts. Humour, the ability to "not take life too seriously.", generosity, and the feeling that you are the most important person in the room. Reading poetry with Cal, has relite the pilot light for me. We are so greatful to have he privledge of knowing Cal
