Carl Maass Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 27, 2015.
Carl Maass was a commercial loan officer in Tucson many years before his illness, reactive arthritis, forced an early retirement.
He was the son of German immigrants, Carl G. Maass and Anna Maass, who moved to Chicago about 80 years ago. He is survived by his sister, Caroline Aufrere.

He was married to Katie Maass and had two daughters, Emily and Amanda. Carl's passion for world travel took him and his family across the U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, Germany, Poland, Russia, other parts of Europe, South America, China, Turkey, New Zealand and Fiji, to name a few.

A memorial service is planned at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 29 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 9252 E. 22nd Street, Tucson AZ 85710.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to Immanuel Presbyterian Church's endowment (at the address above or online: immanuelpc.org) or University of Arizona Arthritis Center, Development Office, P.O. Box 245093, Tucson, AZ 85724-5093; or online: arthritis.arizona.edu.

It's now the one year from the death (August 25,2015)of my Dearest pal, Carl William Maass, 1953-2015/
May his Memory be for Blessing, particularly in the lives of his daughters.

June 29, 2016

Dear Maass Family,
It's now going on a year from the loss of our Dear Carl. He was one of my oldest friends, since we were in 1st grade till his death in August 2015. We were always in regular contact by phone, text, email and his visits to Chicago. Near the end of his life, as he particularly struggled with his reactive arthritis,we were speaking almost daily. His loss is still such a raw-wound in my life. I really miss our conversations; ranging from his daily struggles to politics, religion, family, and all our Chicago friends, etc.
May his Memory be for Blessing; particularly in the lives of his beloved daughters, Emily and Amanda.
Sincerely, TomLambros Bornstein, Northcenter, Chicago

I met Carl in 1980 in the Galapagos Island. Two weeks later we rendezvoused to backpack in La Cordillera Blanca of Peru. Just over a year later I met Katie and Carl in New Zealand and we traveled the North Island together. My sympathy to all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
