Carla Pulliam Obituary
Carla Pulliam, age 53, of Newport News, VA, passed away on April 20, 2024. She was born on December 1, 1970. Carla was the beloved mother of Dee'Jean Mendez (Miguel Mendez), Royal Thomas, and Qua'Shun Smith. She was a cherished grandmother to Arieona Stokes, Alexander Mendez, Emmanuel Mendez, Royal Burton, Josiah Burton, Layla, Mateo Rome, and awaited the arrival of little Miss Aurora Smith. Carla is survived by her sister, Alberta Wilson, nephew DAV'Von Thomas, niece Jane'l Coleman, her mother Doris Vann, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Thomas.
Carla attended Menchville High School and furthered her education at Thomas Nelson and ECPI. She was the Owner and Operator of Carla's Custom Cleaning, where she dedicated her time and passion. Carla's hobbies included traveling, photography, enjoying good food, and reading books.
A ceremony to honor Carla's life will be held on May 1, 2024, at 11 am at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home, 251 W. Queen St. Hampton, VA 23669.
Rest in peace, Carla. Your memory will forever be cherished.

Carla used to work with me and I always had so much respect for her. She was always speaking words of wisdom and preaching about self worth. She stood up for me when I was being treated a certain way. Carla was a beautiful woman with a beautiful mind. The world lost a beautiful soul. R.I.P. Carla.

My first memory of Carla was 9th grade AFROTC. That´s where we met and started a relationship together. She was my son´s mother. She was a nice person with a huge personality.
