Carol Campbell Fisher Brownlee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 8, 2025.
Martha "Carol" Campbell Fisher Brownlee, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at Brookdale Oak Hollow in Bedford, Texas. She had been a resident there for the past two years, receiving care for advanced-stage dementia, and had recently begun receiving hospice care.

Born on July 23, 1942, in Russellville, Arkansas, Carol was the daughter of David and Imo Campbell. She was the beloved older sister of Louise and a devoted mother to Jan and Julie.

Carol met her first husband, Larry, during her freshman year at Arkansas Tech University. Her sophomore year, she attended Texas Christian University (TCU), where she pledged Chi Omega. The following year, she and Larry transferred to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where she earned a B.A. in psychology. The two married while completing their degrees at the U of A.

Soon after the family moved to Louisiana and once her daughters entered elementary school, Carol pursued her passion for nursing. She earned her BSN from Northeast Louisiana University and found great fulfillment caring for patients combining her keen intellect and warm compassion.

In 1977, Carol and her family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she became deeply involved in Christian lay counseling and formed lasting friendships at First United Methodist Church.

In 2009, she moved to Denver, Colorado, to be closer to her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "CiCi." That same year, she reconnected with her high school friend and sweetheart, Richard Brownlee. They married in September 2011 and made their home in Colorado until relocating to Grapevine, Texas, in 2022. Richard remained a devoted husband and caregiver throughout Carol's journey with dementia following her diagnosis in 2019.

A woman of steadfast Christian faith, Carol walked daily with God throughout her life. Her family rejoices knowing she is now with Jesus-fully healed and free.

Carol is survived by her husband, Richard Brownlee; daughters Jan Fisher Budreau of Denver, Colorado, and Julie Carol Fisher of Van Alstyne, Texas; sister Louise Campbell Watkins (Paul) of Morrilton, Arkansas; grandchildren David Michael and Faith Elizabeth Budreau, of Denver, Colorado; niece Jane Campbell Watkins Kaufman and nephew David Paul Watkins, both of Morrilton; nephew Dan W. Fisher of Westminster, Colorado and niece Paige Fisher Knerr of Ballwin, Missouri and many dear extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents.

A celebration of Carol's life will be planned at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to a ministry or charity of your choice.

We began our friendship in the second grade meeting at recess to sit on the curb and talk. We grew up together. She will always be with me. Sending all my love to all of her precious family.
