Carole Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2025.
Carole Ann Johnson passed peacefully at the young age of 80 on November 12, 2024, after a brief battle with glioblastoma. Carole moved into a very loving and caring hospice care at Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul, MN. Carole graduated from Aitkin High School in 1962 and left the same day for the cities to pursue her dreams. Those dreams included real estate sales to Anoka Police Department Dispatcher to finding her fit in marketing with various commercial and residential design and architecture companies.

Carole was an amazing woman, mother and grandmother. She leaves behind her two sons: Reed Larson and Wayde Larson with wife, Rachel and granddaughter, Helayna. She was also a loving big sister to Nancy Havila, Gordy (Mary) Havila, Joe Havila, Jim Havila and Janie (Jim) Freeman. She was an aunt to Kristy (Mark) and Jack Lieblein, Katy (Chris) Allie and Madelyn Volkmann, Alicia Freeman, Andrew Freeman and Jake Havila. She will be greatly missed by her many cousins and close friends.

Carole loved golden retrievers, spending time in hometown Palisade, reading all things US history and mystery, and a peaceful walk in nature. She is remembered as a fearsome Rummikub and 500 card player. She was a great dancer and a fan of the Rolling Stones and Dwight Yoakam. We will miss her kind nature and easy laughter.

A private gathering of family and close friends will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery on Friday January 31, 2025, at 11am followed by a Celebration of Life and lunch to follow at the Rustic Trail, Palisade, MN at noon.

It was always a pleasure when Carole and I would happen to be in Palisade at the same time. Mary and I miss her very much. As the saying goes, she was as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Carole and I have been best friends since we were 19. We met working together and became friends right away. We went on several trips starting with the SD Black Hills at 19 and Paris at 60 and several in between. The last several years we have gotten together once a month and played Rummicube for hours, cooked new recipes and caught up on what was going on with our families and of course what was going on in our lives. Those days were so precious to me and I miss her immensely. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Always enjoyed her family so much.

Carole was my big sister, friend & confidante. As a kid and even older, I was a pain in her *** but she loved me still. Rest in Heaven.
