Carolyn Bruner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2025.
Mrs. Carolyn Courtney Bruner, 89, passed away quietly on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Carolyn was the wife of Don R. Bruner, Sr., for over 67 years. She was the daughter of the late Eva Mae Whitman and Broadus Whitman. Carolyn is survived by her children, Don R. Bruner, Jr., Bonnie B. Kyzer (Russell), and Mitchell W. Bruner (Miriam); siblings, Dianne Bollman (John), Shelby Burkett (Ray, deceased), and Bill Courtney; grandchildren, Merri Caroline Preusser (Jonathan), Alec Rucker (Jason), and Cyndal Sweet (Nate); and great-grandchild, Hayden Remi Preusser.

Carolyn was a graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School in 1953. She graduated from South Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and passed the South Carolina Board of Nursing in 1957. Carolyn worked for years at the Baptist Hospital, before being a nurse for several doctors, with her final nursing employment with the Lexington County Health Department.

Carolyn retired many years ago to begin her "true calling" - raising a family.

At Carolyn's request, her body was donated to the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at East Side Baptist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, SC.
