Carolyn Virginia Martell

Carolyn Martell, former resident of Murphys, Ca, died peacefully on Jan 17th, 2023, at her home, after a very short illness, tended by her family and hospice care.

Carolyn was born August 5, 1943, San Diego, Ca to Ernest and Consuelo Roy. She was a graduate of Cabrillo College, Aptos, Ca. She married Timothy E. Martell, March 16, 1963, Santa Cruz, Ca. During her life she resided in Pleasant Hill and Murphys, Ca, and Gardnerville, Nv.

Carolyn was a much beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a positive and cheerful person her whole life. She was a natural born volunteer serving in various capacities throughout her life including as a Counselor and Director at Two Sentinels Girl Scout Camp at Lake Kirkwood, Ca. and Diablo Day Camp in Lafayette, Ca. She served in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and was a docent at Columbia Historic State Park in Ca. She was a proud member of the Native Daughters of California. Carolyn positively touched thousands of lives, always truly trying her best to make the world a better place. She was loved by all who knew her.

Carolyn was an enthusiastic fisherwoman. She enjoyed traveling, particularly ocean cruises and road trips. Carolyn and Tim were high school sweethearts and were married nearly 60 years. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Carolyn is survived by her adoring husband Timothy E. Martell of Gardnerville, Nv, son Matthew B. Martell of Gardnerville, Nv, son Theodore S. Martell and his wife, Karen S. Martell, of Gardnerville, Nv, and daughter Kimberly D. Martell of Carson City, Nv. Also survived by grandchildren, Chelsea Martell Evans of Austin, Tx, and her husband James Evans, Timothy J. Martell of Sherman Oaks, Ca and Alexandria D. Rumbel of Martinez, Ca. She is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Quamme, of Grand Junction, Co.

We all loved her very much. A celebration of her life is being planned for the summertime, in or near Murphys, Ca. Family and friends will be notified of time and place.
