Carrie Claudine Whittle Morrow 1934 - 2019

Claudine Morrow passed away on January 15, 2019. She was born to Alonzo Verner Phelps and Anna Lee Moran Phelps on February 16, 1934 in Whitesboro, Texas. Claudine worked for Texas Instruments for over 25 years in Quality Control. She also helped to get Quality Control Departments started at the TI Plant in Mexico. Claudine worked other jobs while working at TI. She sold Avon, Sarah Coventry, and worked at Sears. She attended Webb Chapel Church of Christ from 1959-1990, enjoying the Ladies Bible Class and other church gatherings.

In 1952 she married Edward Benjamin Whittle with whom she had three children. Claudine became a widow when Ed Whittle passed in 1966. She married Glen Morrow in 1989 in Farmers Branch. They moved to Emory in 1991 upon Claudine's retirement from Texas Instruments. They became active members of the Church of Christ in Emory. They built their retirement home and lived a very active life. Glen Morrow passed December 9, 2017.

Claudine loved her children and grandchildren. She delighted playing with and taking her grandchildren to various places such as museums, Fossil Rim to see dinosaur tracks and Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. She got them the latest children's electronics by Texas Instruments. Claudine made sure each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren had beautiful handmade crocheted baby blankets.

Claudine got a thrill out of life and laughter. She loved to work in her flower gardens, cooking and canning food. She loved sewing, painting pictures and crafts. Claudine enjoyed decorating her home inside and out. She was featured twice in the Rains County Leader News Paper for her cooking recipes and flower gardens. She also enjoyed putting together difficult puzzles and playing games with family and friends.

Those left to remember and cherish the love and laughter she spread:

Children: Ben Whittle and Alan Morlan of Houston, Sherry Baxter and husband Mike of Ft. Worth, Cindy Isenberg of Waco

Brothers: L. V. Phelps of Whitesboro, Steve Phelps of Paris

Sister: Patsy Neasbitt of Sadler

Grandchildren: Jason Baxter, Lauren Baxter Edquist, Philip Whittle, Joshua Whittle, Rachel Marshall, Casey Noland.

Great grandchildren: Paul, William, Emma, Lexi, Harrison, Oliver, Eleanor Quinn.

Numerous other loved relatives and friends.

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day---and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-7

I met Claudine when I started going to Webb Chapel. Met her kids Benny and Sherry in youth group. When I think of Claudine - I think of friendship. I cannot imagine what my life would have been like without Benny and Sherry. We had so much fun together - shaving cream fights, going to the lake, firecrackers and just spending time together. Claudine had a great sense of humor and passed that along to Benny and Sherry. She also was a survivor - she was smart and determined that her children would have a good life. Claudine always welcomed a horde of us into her home and never made you feel that you weren't welcome. I can't imagine having that many kids visiting all the time and still being happy to see them. When I got a job at TI we rode together to work and had many good times and talks on those rides. She was a classy, attractive lady who I admired tremendously for being a single mother and doing it with such fun and enthusiasm. I loved her and love her children. I know she was proud of her children and wanted the best for them. Although she was the same age as my Mom I always found her to be open to new ideas and opinions. I never knew Cindy as well, my memories of her are when I picked up Sherry for school and had to wait most mornings for the usual fight about why Cindy had borrowed Sherry's makeup. This family enriched my life and the life of my family. Benny was a favorite with my Dad and Mom. I guess I would have to say to Claudine - god's speed on your journey and thanks for all the wonderful times we shared together.

Claudine touched every one that met her. So many good times at Webb Chapel when we were young. Touring Australia with her and my mom. Riding the Joy bus with 50 kids trying to sit with her. Her love and laughter will be remembered forever.

She was my favorite mother-in-law and I was her favorite daughter-in-law. She always loved me and I always loved her. Nothing left unsaid. Never said unkind words to each other. Can't get any better than that. I live y

When I was thinking about my mothers obituary, it hit me how as a single mother for many years she worked multiple jobs. Prov. 31:10-31. She worked morning to night seeing that her children were provided for inspite of no husband or help. Love, Sherry
