It is with great sadness we announce the death of
Carter Pittman, 62, of San Luis Obispo CA. who died on August 6th 2025.
FAMILY
Beloved husband of Ravelle Pittman, Loving father of Lyla Pittman.
Carter was preceded in death by his (siblings) sisters Angie Treadwell, Glenda Ackley, and brothers Scott Pittman and Gene Haines and is survived by brother Wayne Pittman of Silver City NM., Dianne James of Monte Vista CO, Debbie Pittman of Garcia CO., Susan Haines, (mother and father-in-Law) Elena and Samuel Erenberg, also survived by his brother-in-law, Noah and a beloved multitude cousins, nieces and nephews.
EDUCATION
Carter was born in Seminole Tx on October 16 1962 to Bill and Bonnie Pittman, attended Sierra Grande Schools in Blanca, Colorado. Carter also attended Cal Poly in California majoring in English.
U.S. FOREST SERVICE
Carter as a teenager, began working for Blanfort Potato Warehouse in Blanca CO, then transistioned to The U.S Forest Service in the San Luis Valley in Colorado in the mid 80's, where he worked as a wild land firefighter and later in the Mayhill district in New Mexico.
After moving to California, in 2005 Carter went to work for the San Luis Obispo Social Services Child Welfare Department as a Child Welfare Social Worker aid, where he continued to work for over 16 years.
EN MASSE
Carter's coworkers valued his insight and leadership so much that when they heard of his death, they honored him by not coming to work on August 9th, 2025 en masse.
MILITARY SERVICE
Carter enlisted in the Army at age 18 and following boot camp became a member of the first armored division of Old Ironsides. While overseas, he recieved the good conduct medal in S. Korea.
FUR AND FEATHERS
Carter had a soft spot for his furry and feathered friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. Carter's family of furry friends included dogs Pepe, Noche, and the new puppy, Winston, plus the cat Dumpling. His feathered friends included a flock of chickens.
FRIENDS
Carter and his friends were practically inseparable throughout their lives. From Bar B Q to entertainment, good conversation and, with Carter, always laughter, they were together through it all.
FAITH
Carter was a devoted Christian, one who believe a oneness with God, was the most important virtue.
Psalm 1.1 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful"
THE WRITER
Carter will always be remembered for his passion for writing and the eloquent way that he spun a tale, as evidenced in the book, "Tales from a Rocky Coast" his first book he contributed to. A book he was so proud of, by the Friday Night Writers Group.
We'll always imagine hearing him say "Baby Brudder Dear"
We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, brother and friend.
We will miss Carter every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
