HOPKINS Catherine "Great Kate" A Wonderful Woman! Born December 10, 1921, in Toledo, OH, died September 22, 2010, at her home in Port Townsend, WA, surrounded by her family. She was the best Mother, Grammy, and Great-Kate a family could have. During her long life she earned a degree in literature and natural sciences at the Univ. of Toledo. She was an adventurous soul. She traveled the world, she was a nature lover, artist, storyteller and poet. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Hopkins; daughters, Nancy Cook, Diane Clark and great-grandson, Mykel Wamer. She is survived by her daughters, Cathie Hopkins and Martha Barrett of Port Townsend, WA; granddaughters, Jennifer Wamer (Jeff) of Toledo, OH, Sarah Stanmore (Ralph) of Portland, OR, Cynthia Lusby (Richard), of Healy, AK and Elizabeth Barrett (Damon Semmel) of Portland, OR; great-grandchildren, JayCee and Reese Wamer, Emily and Nicholas Stanmore, Makena and Hayden Lusby. She will also be missed by her good buddy Kristine and her many nieces, nephews and friends. It is hard to express in words how many lives she touched and how much she will be missed. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at a future time.

Kate was a such a wonderful naturalist, so observant, creative yet practical. I learned so much from her--she enriched our lives.

We adored "Great Aunt Kate" and are thankful for all the times we shared with her. Her beautifully rich and passionate love of nature, stories, libraries, art museums, treats, animals, crystals, and poetry brought magic to our lives! LOVE ALWAYS! Kim and Matthew, Toldeo, OH
