At 80 years of age, Catherine passed away suddenly on Saturday evening March 11th .   She was a loving daughter to the late John and Catherine (Power) Morgan.  She was born and raised in Castle Countess, Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland.  She received her early education in Ireland.  Catherine was an accomplished pianist and talented singer she traveled the countryside for six years as a member of a band.  She attended business school in Ireland and at 21 years of age Catherine married and began raising her family in Ireland.  She came to the United States in ’64 with her family and resided for several years in the Malden and Medford communities before settling in Chelsea in ‘94. She worked outside of her home for many years as an Office Administrator, she excelled in shorthand and was an experienced typist.  She continued her education taking business courses at Bentley College in 1981.  She held several jobs sometimes working simultaneously beginning with the Medford Chamber of Commerce and Boston Coast Guard Station, she assisted in writing the weekly bulletin for the Old South Church and worked full time at the Salvation Army Headquarters on Berkley St. before retiring in 2001.  She was fluent in Gaelic and Latin.  She was an amateur botanist with a green thumb and love for gardening.  She was an intense cyclist, enjoying bicycling here and in Ireland before it became a popular sport.  She was an avid reader, and enjoyed sharing and telling stories, listening to a good tale, enjoying good food and company of good friends and sharing a laugh or two.  She was a woman of deep faith and devotion to her family and was a “Pioneer Woman”.  She favored St. Francis of Assisi and had a great love for animals.  This was exampled by her support of PETA and the Animal Rescue League.  In addition to her parents Catherine was also preceded in death by her former husband and friend John F. Gene and Trisha, John, Dominic, Cathal and Tracy, Kieran and Siobhan:

Your mother was an amazing, strong, independent and loving person. Words can not express how sorry I am for your pain her passing causes you. Use her strong faith she instilled in each of you to know that she is at peace and is in Heaven with the Lord.

She is gone from this earth but she will always be watching over "her boys". She truly lived Mo Mhuintir, Mo Chroi...

Sincere sympathy,
Marytheresa Lynch
