Cayley Mandadi Obituary

Published by Houston Chronicle on Nov. 18, 2017.
Cayley Anita Mandadi
1998-2017
Cayley Anita Mandadi was born on August 26, 1998 in Webster, Texas, and passed away in Kyle, Texas on October 31, 2017. She is a beloved and loving daughter, granddaughter, aunt, cousin, niece, student, team mate, sorority sister and best friend who touched and brightened countless lives with her kind heart, contagious laugh and amazing spirit.
Cayley is survived by her grieving and devastated parents, step-parents, plus a large extended and close family throughout the United States, Canada, and India. She was our purpose and meaning since the day she was born. She leaves an unimaginably painful gap in our hearts, but will remain forever young in our memories.
Growing up, Cayley was an intellectually gifted and physically active child who enjoyed riding horses, playing the piano, winning science fairs, acting in the summer theater, and being a Girl Scout. She was thrilled to discover a 10,000-year-old mammoth tooth on a Galveston beach one morning, and was eager to get back with her dear friends the same evening for goofy play. She enjoyed exploring Clear Lake neighborhoods and running around with her friends as much as she enjoyed hiking in foreign countries with her parents.
Cayley attended Clear Creek Independent School District schools throughout her childhood, and was a 2016 graduate of Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas. While attending Creek, she adored the creativity and camaraderie of the school's film-making club, of which she was a member. She also participated in the local volunteer group known as Faithful Friends Animal Assisted Therapy Ministry.
Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas became her family-away-from-family, as she was pursing studies in communications as a sophomore. Whether it was running the veteran mile for her cheerleading team, getting that hard 'A' in micro-economics, or hosting elegant events with her Chi Beta Epsilon sisters, she loved her college and her friends. Cayley truly blossomed into a beautiful young woman, inside and out. She will be missed terribly by all whom she touched during her school and college years.
While we grieve intensely for a wonderful life cut short, we take comfort in that her life was joyful, full of love, beauty, compassion, and intelligence, and made this world a better place for all her friends and family. While we will miss her deeply, we know that she will live on in the hearts of her friends and family for the rest of our lives. We don't expect the crying to stop any time soon, but she gave us plenty to smile about while she was with us.
Private memorial service details will be announced separately. Anyone wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers is welcome to consider the Youth Group Mission Fund at St. Thomas The Apostle Episcopal Church of Nassau Bay, Texas (where Cayley had been a youth group member during high school), the Sponsor-A-Heart Adoption Fund at the Galveston County Animal Resource Center (where Cayley found our precious rescue dog), or the charity of your choice.
