Cecile Benson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 8, 2024.
Cecile Marie (Belden) Benson, affectionately known as Gramma Boo, passed away at home peacefully in her sleep on April 6, 2024. Born to Richard and Rita Belden on October 18, 1953, Cecile was devoted to her family her entire life.

Cecile was a cherished member of the Belden family, eldest sister to Kim Belden, Eric Belden, Suzanne (Belden) Richards, and Angela Belden. In 1974, she married her husband George Taft Benson, III in a beautiful ceremony in Litchfield, NH, and they moved to Londonderry, where they have remained since. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Cecile graduated from Alvirne High School and worked for many years at the High School and Leach Libraries in Londonderry, NH, while raising her daughter. Cecile was an avid reader, enjoyed card and trivia games & scrolling Facebook, created many craft projects, and most of all, loved to celebrate and be with her immediate and extended family and friends. She was a night owl who would get into a good book or craft project and stay up all night finishing it. Cecile was also a natural care giver who helped care for her aging parents before their deaths. Cecile was accepting to all, incredibly generous and warm, and loved with her whole heart. Her kind spirit and love of all people made her a natural light in so many lives.

Cecile's love extended to her daughter, Amity (Benson) Small, and son in law, Daniel Small. Amity will remember the deep unconditional love, pride, and support her mother always carried for her. Cecile's four granddaughters, GG, Chloe, Lexi, and Rowyn were her most cherished blessings and will carry on Gramma Boo's legacy of love, generosity, and joy.

Predeceased by her parents and her sister Suzanne, Cecile's memory will be treasured and kept alive by her husband George, her daughter and son in law, grandchildren, siblings, in-laws, and several nieces and nephews whom she adored.

A life celebration ceremony to honor Cecile will be held at the Davis Funeral Home in Nashua on Thursday April 11, 2024 at 4:30pm.

I knew Cecile at Litchfield (NH) Elementery School where we were in the same class (of 1967, though ee moved away after sixth grade, but kept in touch with some classmates). Cecile was bright, funny, sociable, and the nicest gitl you'd ever want to know. She was a good friend, although we lost touch after sixth grade, I did go to that (my) class's 1967 LES graduation in Talent Hall in Litchfield. Cecile was very friendly to me that night and I'll never forget that. I am so sorry to learn if her passing in 2024 at such a young age. My deep condolences to all her family and friends, and my heartfelt prayers and sympathies go out to you all, and to everyone who ever knew her. Rest in peace, Cecile! The description of Cecile describes her perfectly. As a sweet and kind friend during our high school years, she was darn close to perfect. She had a soft voice for all, but a little feisty when it was needed. Being around her, Susie Benson (Aucoin), Carrie Rose Colby, Frannie Shunaman and Mark Maryanski as classmates gave me great joy. My mother loved them all as well, because they loved me. I know Cecile is dancing now with Carrie Rose, Mark and my Mum Ruth (Carty) Hatfield. She was a treasure. I only wish my life serving in the US Air Force had not taken me away from these amazing friends. I cherish the memories.
