Charles Edward Biddle Jr. passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2021 from complications of C.O.P.D and heart failure.
Charlie was born in Aurora, Colorado to Charles and Martina (Tina) Biddle on September 28, 1950. Charlie graduated from De La Warr High School in 1969. He immediately enlisted into the Navy. Six days after High School graduation Charlie was on a plane to San Diego to be trained before leaving for Vietnam. During his 2 tours in Vietnam, he was stationed between San Diego and Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. After leaving the Navy, Charlie came home to Delaware to marry his high school sweetheart Susan Adgate and go on to have 2 children.
He was employed at DuPont Experimental Station where he became a master welder. He stayed at DuPont for 12 years before leaving to go into business for himself, buying the Woodside Inn Tavern. Charlie became a fixture at the Woodside Inn. You could always count on a hearty greeting and an offer of a soda-pop.
Charlie was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved taking his bike cross country or even taking a run to Daytona. He was also drawn to the sea. Any chance he got to sail; he took it, even going as far as Florida to sail a boat home. He loved the wind in his hair and the sun on his face. No matter what you remember about Charlie, whether it be his above average intelligence, his fantastic sense of humor or his huge heart, you will always remember him with a smile on your face. The world may seem a little bit dimmer without him in it, but he is in a better place, smiling down at all of us.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Biddle Sr. and Martina Biddle, also preceding him in death was his son-in-law, Kyle Gregg.
He was survived by his son, Casey James Biddle, his daughter, Kari Biddle Gregg, his grand-daughter, Izabela Bailey Biddle, his sister, Joyce Biddle Mulhern (Dick Mulhern), his nephew, Keith Wilson (Danielle Wilson) and his niece Jessica Wilson.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 24th from 11 am – 12 pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. A graveside service with military honors will follow in the Townsend Cemetery.

I had a crush on Chuckie in 9th or 10th grade. He was my best friend Joyce's older brother; always smiling and teasing. It is fascinating and sad to read all that has passed in these years. Godspeed Chuckie and love to Joyce and family.
Charlie was definitely the kind of person who made the world a better place. If anyone found a friend in him, then you found a friend for life!!! He was Uncle Charlie to me and a great one!!! Since I went back to college he always wanted to hear about ho

Chucky and I go back to 3rd grade and we remained friends while he was still in the navy.
I lost contact with him in 72 when I moved to Boston pursuing my music career then to NYC.
We had many great times together as kids and adults. I did get to visit his wood side club and catch up on what we’ve been up too back a few years.
When we were teenagers we would practice line dances and I would teach him some bass lines in exchange for him to lend me his Kingston bass and Supra amp so that I could do gigs.
Chucky had the best R&B record collection around and became a cool dresser wearing sharkskin pants, Italian knits, silk socks and canoe cologne. we drove all the way to the Harrington fair to see Smokey Robinson and the Miracles in my 1958 TR3 back in the late 60s.
He was a true brother that I knew always had my back now, chucky left us on earth time and now he’s on eternity time. Bon voyage’ my dear old friend.
