Charles Cassano Obituary
Charles R. "Chuck" Cassano, age 81, of Erie, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Erie, Pa., on April 4, 1933, a son of the late Sam Cassano and Joann (DeLuca) Batcho.
Chuck served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a machinist at Zurn Industries for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed bowling and played the trumpet in the Les Shar Band, the East Erie Turner Band, and Millcreek Area Community Band.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Reinsel and a brother, John Cassano.
Survivors include his wife, Marie (Rudzinski) Cassano; son, Charles P. Cassano (Noelle) of Millcreek; daughter, Cheryl "Sherry" Pituch (Marty) of Erie; granddaughters, Brittany and Christa Pituch, both of Erie; sisters, Terry Black (Jim) of Erie, Carol Yaple (Mark) of Erie, Barbara Arters (Fred) of Delaware, Ohio, Nanci Cassano of Erie and Ronnie Weber (Ken) of Erie; sister-in-law, Kathy Cassano of Erie; brother-in-law, Sam Reinsel of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St., on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and are invited to attend a prayer services at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00 a.m. Private burial will be in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Regional Home Health and Hospice, 3526 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16508, or Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St., Erie, PA 16505.
