Charles “Chuck” Ryan III Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2025.
Charles "Chuck" Edward Ryan III, 59, of Atlanta, Ga., passed away June 22, 2025. Born in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Chuck could do it all. He was a master plumber and pipe fitter who installed the plumbing systems in many Atlanta commercial buildings. He also could run a gas line - he was always proud to be part of the crew that ran the line to the Olympic torch at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Among his employers were General Electric, Perham-Dayton Corp., PDC and Mueller Co. Chuck had an enormous heart, often pitching in when a sibling was in need or being a handyman for many a friend, and he cared for his aging parents in their final years. He went to countless Braves games over the years with his brother Mike and shared that experience with visiting nieces and nephews - rounded out by a trip to The Varsity for strings, F.O. and P.C. before taking in batting practice to snag a ball - and churned through crossword puzzles in his sleep. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Deirdre (Kilcoyne) Ryan. He is survived by his siblings, Patricia (David) Ryan Forrai of Centerville, Ohio; Deirdre (Jerome) Cawthorn of Springfield, Va.; Michael Ryan of Atlanta, Ga.; and Sean (Chelsea) Ryan of Richmond, Va. A funeral service will be held on July 18 at 2 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to National Public Radio.

Chuck was a fantstic man and truly will be missed. Spent great times with him in Decatur, braves games or just grilling up stakes or bbq pork. Talented and witty with a big heart to match. I like many others will miss him. God bless you Chuck and the Ryan family
