Dear Em, Dear All of you;
Dick was always a good friend to me. In the time before his presidency and for some time after we spoke on the phone regularly, sometimes daily. The work he did for the Senators was amazing. His legendary partnership and friendship with Jay Edmondson provided all of us with many great moments and lives today in the way things are arranged within the Florida Senate. I was glad to be able to visit with Dick in June when I was in the U.S. I am sorry I could not pay my respects in person. I will miss him.

Dearest Emily - I am so sorry that Steve and I could not be with you yesterday. We were in Tennessee, doing USJCI Chairman of the Board duties. We were so saddened by the news of Dick's passing. There are no words that I can say to ease the pain but just know that he is no longer in pain and he is with our dear friend Marilyn. Love you and hope to see you soon.

All of you made Dick proud at his service and gathering. We'll miss him, too. We're blessed to have many fond memories, especially our recent cruise and the many Octoberfests. We're sad but Michael's happy. Love, Diane and John

I was saddened to read of Dick's passing. In reading the many entrys, it is evident that Dick had many friends, and I count myself as one of them. From our being together in the Sayreville Jaycees, he was an inspiration and a friend. I have thought of you both many times since your move to Florida. He will be missed dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Emily!! Last year in Myrtle Beach, Dick sat with me, took my hand and asked me, "are you ready?" I told him I was as ready as I was going to be. He told me that if I ever needed anything, he was there for me, and that I had his full support. And he showed that everytime I saw him. I loved how happy he was at the Bash, and when that sly smile would come across his face, when he was telling a funny story, his beautiful blue eyes would start to sparkle, and he would start to giggle and could hardly finish the story!!
