Charles Robert Langston Jr., 88, passed away Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at Cottingham Hospice House, Seneca, SC. His dear wife of 69 years, Pauline Gurley Langston, preceded him in death. Charles was born on September 7th, 1933, in Carnesville, Georgia and was the son of Charles Robert and Mary Lou Langston. He graduated from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Ga. Following graduation, he began a career that would span over 30 years with Coats and Clark Manufacturing. He started his work in Toccoa, Ga, and later moved to open and manage the Coats and Clark Plastics Division in Seneca, SC. Charles and his parents had over 100 years of Coats and Clark Company service. Charles was a committed, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a Christian and a member of Westminster Baptist Church. Throughout his life, he served as a dedicated leader of the Boy Scouts in Toccoa and Seneca. He is survived by sons, Charles "Denny" Langston (Soien) of Seneca, and William Allan Langston (Pamela) of Seneca; grandchildren, Cari Langston, Drew Langston (Julie), Anna Langston, Charles Griffin, Laicie Langston Fortney (Michael), and Wil Allan Langston; and seven great-grandchildren. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his four brothers and sister's in-law, Billy Gurley, Ernest Gurley, Allan Gurley, and Arnold Gurley. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 at the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa, Ga. The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charles's memory may be made to Saint Marks United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 226, 616 Quincy Road, Seneca, SC 29678.
