My sincere condolences to Dr Mitchell´s family. I worked with Dr Mitchell and Dr Webb on Gaston/Washington. I was a senior in high school and worked through a work program. They encouraged and literally enrolled me into the Baylor School of Radiologic Technology in 1982. I will forever be grateful. He crossed my mind and I searched to find out he´s no longer here. He was an awesome person and doctor. Your family are in my prayers.

Dear Vernil, Dale and Keith,
This is George and Lynne Walton who were your neighbors on Sedgwick avenue in the Bronx.
We just today found Charles business card and tried to contact you. The internet told us the very sad story of Charles passing. We fondly recall your wonderful visit to us on Cayman Brac and how "Dr. Charles" was so highly regarded and remembered by Brackers. George, like Charles enlisted in the military - U.S. Airforce where he served as a Major also in several overseas assignments. Vernil we recall your wonderful home baked rolls. We hope you and family are doing well.
Our sincerest condolences to you and family.
With warm affection,
George and Lynne Walton ([email protected])

To Vernil Mitchell and family
My father was Dr Mitchell´s business partner for several years.
My apologies for the late condolences. I recently heard the news through the Howard University alumni association.
We have fond memories of Charles & Vernil Mitchell. Dr Mitchell´s legacy lives on through his commitment to Texas and the greater community.
May his memory be a blessing!
Regards,
Pete Webb

My prayers and condolences to my cousin Vernil and family and friends. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. I will always remember him during the time my husband took ill. When my mom Mancy called him after me calling her how he made calls to doctors from LA, and other city's. One doctor even flew in to Baylor of Dallas to do a test on my husband. I always speak him to others and how Dr.Mitchell was willing to comfort and help. Praying for the family.

NOT HOW DID HE DIE BUT HOW DID HE LIVE
NOT WHAT DID HE GAIN BUT WHAT DID HE GIVE
THESE ARE THE UNITS TO MEASURE THE WORTH
OF A MAN AS A MAN REGARDLESS OF BIRTH
NOT WHAT WAS HIS CHURCH NORWHAT WAS HIS CREED
BUT HAD HE BEFRIENDED THOSE REALLY IN NEED
WAS HE EVER READY WITH WORDS OF GOOD CHEER
TO BRING A SMILE TO BANISH A TEAR
NOT WHAT DID THE SKETCH INTHE NEWSPAPER SAY
BUT HOW MANY WERE SORRY WHEN HE PASSED AWAY.
SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO ALL THE FAMILY AND MAY GOD BLESS. I MET DR. MITCHELL WHILE WORKING IN SURGERY AT METHODIST HOSPITAL DALLAS.

To the Mitchell family, Dr. Mitchell was a person who never met a stranger. He would always greet everyone with a warm smile and shake your hand at church (FWBC).He was a faithful member. He performed knee surgery on my husband and made it seem like a breeze. Referred my youngest daughter to an outstanding sports med doctor due to her age. This man offered his assistance in helping everyone. So thankful to have been able to spend good times with both of you. May GOD continue to Bless and Keep you and your family.

I first met Charles when we both started practice at Baylor hospital years ago. We shared going to Parkland for Orthopedic grand rounds, patients, and fellowship in the Texas Orthopedic Association over the years. He will be missed by many and the Texas Orthopedic community will be without a thoughtful and productive colleague.
